I'm sure I'm not alone in being ridiculously excited for being a Member of Gators c/o 2015 (aka 20Tebow), and it may be a bit premature, but barring some unfathomable turn of events I'm pretty sure I'll get in. If you know what the Lombardi & Stamps scholarship is then you know how good my chances are. Anyway I just was wondering about whether Jennings or Broward (or any other dorm I haven't heard much about yet) are the best housing for freshmen who want to get a lot of social exposure, and still have relatively comfortable living quarters. I'm okay with the whole community bathroom idea, but a 3 person dorm may be a little too cramped for me. And unrelated question: When is the football ticket lottery?

Thanks so much, hope to see you all next year in the Ville!
Dan

Trust me its my dream school too, I’ve just worked so hard for it I’m sorry if I overexaggerate, just don’t blame me for being too excited. Gator Nation for sure is where it’s at, and man I hope you, SOC2015, & humble pie man get in too. I saw your credentials on your other post and you’re definitely above average, you should have a good shot. I’ll tell you more on your thread. Anyone know about which dorms are best? I was looking at Jennings or Broward especially for the social life

I didnt see you come across as pompous and arrogant at all. This isn’t the Ivy League, the admissions are pretty cut and dry. Most people can tell who will get in and who won’t.

I have no clue about your question OP, just thought I would back you up lol

Yeah np. And I don’t know exactly when the lotto for the tickets are, but I was there this weekend visiting I remember the guide saying it’s widely spread around and you won’t miss it. Has to be early in the year, I would assume.

Dang, for being such a genius the last thing you could do is get your grammar right “I just was wondering about whether Jennings or Broward (or any other dorm I haven’t heard much about yet) IS NOT ARE the best housing for freshmen who want to get a lot of social exposure”

Why is a seminole fan on a UF thread? lol and again why are people wasting their time with personal attacks when there’s better things to discuss

Remember guys, decisions are kind of crazy. Some people with awesome stats were denied last year, and some were accepted. Don’t take this the wrong way, i am not saying your not going to get in. But just keep this in mind. Good luck!

Zapadniy, yeah I think I’m going to live in Hume if I go. A bunch of my friends who are a year or two older said it was the best place to live for freshman (nice and well located).

Smile, do you have a link to the decisions from last year? I am curious to see it.

I’m going to attribute the pointless bickering to decision anxiety, because in all honesty DKGator’s statement was merely his own opinion and has no weight on whether or not anyone else will get in or be rejected. In fact, it doesn’t even guarantee that he himself will be admitted. DKGator, congrats on your scholarship, however, I will say to keep in mind that you will certainly not be the only student in your classroom with those same accomplishments. As you all know, UF is very competitive so your classmates will all be valedictorians and people who were at the top of their class.

With that being said good, luck to ALL OF YOU. I wish you all the best of luck!!! As an upcoming graduate I can truly attest that it is GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR and the experience you will have at UF will be amazing!

And to answer the questions stated, in my opinion the best dorm as far as quality is Lakeside simply because its apartment style and you have your own room. However, its located away from the main campus by the softball complex and recreation center. If you don’t have a car it may be a hassle having to wait for a bus but buses come frequently. I lived there my first year. Keys is similar to Lakeside but closer to campus across from the baseball complex, although it isn’t as new as Lakeside. As far as dorms located close to classrooms on campus, from my experience, Trustler Hall is one of the more social dorms and has great location-walking distance from the O’Dome and the stadium. Also its located behind Gator Dining which is convenient for those with meal plans. If you can manage, the best on campus dorms in terms of location, social rankings, and apartment style, go for Keys or Springs. I think those may be reserved for upper class though.

As far as football tickets, all admitted freshman will have an opportunity to register for the lottery. There is a deadline and as long as you meet that date, you are fine. The lottery is a completely random selection so statistically speaking upperclassman have no advantage over incoming freshman as far as probability of receiving tickets. I’ve had friends that have gotten tickets all four years.

Wow, I just checked out some of the results and I was shocked. Some people with 4.x UF and 21xx were rejected?? Then there were people with 3.2’s and 24’s accepted?? You were right Smile, they were a bit more crazy than I figured.

Yeah, if you go back a few years, like 2007, most of them are like that. That’s why I say, were all basically on the same level kind of. You may have awesome stats or poor ones. Either way, the way UF decides is pretty awesome and scary at the same time. But once again good luck to all of you, 3 days until decisions:)
