I wanna know what my UF GPA is, but the problem is that I've taken several dual enrollment courses and I don't know if UF will consider some of these courses to be "Academic" or not.

My dual enrollment courses, which I don't think are academic, are Speech (SPC1017), Humanities (HUM1020), and Fitness and wellness for life (HLP1081). Fitness and wellness for life is just another way of P.E. But, these are dual enrollment courses and I don't know if UF integrates all dual enrollment courses into the UF GPA...

Speech, humanities, and P.E. in high school are considered electives, which is why I'm so baffled...

Please, HELP ME!!

what UF gpa are you talking about?

the one they calculate when you apply or the one that is your gpa for all coursework completed at UF?

It’s my understanding that UF includes ALL AP courses as “academic” when calculating your GPA - and I assume that all DE courses will be included as well. Most DE courses are counted as 0.5 high school credit, but some math courses are counted as 1.0 high school credit. Also, the GPA bonus for DE is the same as for AP. However, not all DE courses are included when determining eligibility for Bright Futures - and since one of your DE courses (HUM 1020) is not listed in the FLDOE Dual Enrollment Course High School Subject Area Equivalency List ( http://www.fldoe.org/articulation/pdf/DEList.pdf ), I suggest that you call and speak directly w/ UF Admissions to verify which of your DE courses will be included when calculating your UF GPA.

When talking to the admissions officer and listening to hear speak to us at the info session, I didn’t get the impression that ALL AP courses are granted 5 points. Only academic courses are counted, no matter if they’re AP or DE, is what I thought…

Your best source for info will be UF Admissions Dept.
I also did a little digging on the FLDOE website, and found the “State University Admission Policies” at
http://www.fldoe.org/Talented20/pdf/SU_AdmissionsPolicies.pdf . I’m not sure whether or not that will answer your questions - but it includes some info that may be relevant.
To find high school credit for AP courses, check the Course Code Directory (CCD) at http://www.fldoe.org/articulation/CCD/files/1112CCDBasic9-12.pdf .
And as I noted previously, to find high school credit for DE courses, check the Dual Enrollment Course High School Subject Area Equivalency List at http://www.fldoe.org/articulation/pdf/DEList.pdf .
Good luck.
