Hopefully someone from UofF is on this forum? Or someone that knows the answer?

My son is applying to UF for Fall 2011 and we want to know how UF calculates the applicants GPA?

I have heard they only count core classes: math, science, english, foreign lanquages, and social studies?

I have also heard that they add an additional .5 for honors and 1 for AP classes.

Am I correct? is there a link to the UF site that outlines this procedure?

thanks in advance.

That is my understanding of how it works also. Try googling the title of the thread to find the link. I know there is an explanation somewhere on the UF site.

Thanks fishymom, great idea but nothing came up.

Maybe someone else will know where to find it??

they also add .5 for anything pre-ib, pre-aice, etc.
and they add 1 point for IB/AP anything (including electives).

thanks for all the replies. with .5 for honors and 1 for ap. Pushes him over the magic number of 4.0.

We did the tour yesterday and that is exactly what the admissions rep said -+.5 for honors, +1 for ap, ib.
