UF Honors - Correct criteria/can I get in by petition?

UF list its test score criteria for the Honors College as 2070 SAT or 33 ACT.

Is this correct?

A look at the ACT Concordance Table (Compare ACT and SAT Scores | ACT) shows that a 2070 SAT equates to a 31 ACT.

In fact, the test score requirements for FSU are exactly 2070 SAT or 31 ACT.

Does anybody have any idea why UF discriminates against the ACT in its Honors College requirements by requiring a higher ACT score than SAT score?

Needless to say, I got a 31 ACT and meet the other GPA requirements.

Does anybody know the likelihood of my getting in by petition? Someone told me almost all petitions get accepted, is this correct?

Thank you.

Actually if you look at CR and M more heavily than writing, the ACT score would be 33 to equate with SAT score (which UF requires). Did you take the SAT?
Write a good essay.

A 31 ACT is comparable to a 1380 CR+M SAT (i.e., 690 each section)

Adding an equivalent score of 690 for the writing yields a 2070.

Tjackson. After you are accepted you can apply for honors even if you are not invited to apply. My son had the gpa but only a few short of the sat which I think was higher than now. Anyway the essay got him in. It was an awesome essay, hehit it out of the park with some deep down passion that possessed him. Good luck to you.

Go ahead and apply by petition, half the kids in there are in on petition. Anyone can get in by petition if they like your essay. The whole thing kind of makes me wonder why they have “requirements” to get in in the first place.
