Hi there - I am seriously considering [as in probably will pick to go to] Florida State if I am accepted March 19th. Now, here's the predicament:
I want to get into the honors college for the smaller class sizes/research opportunities.
I took the ACT cold the first time and got a 27 [one point off in one section].
I took the ACT again this weekend and felt I did better on the science section [enough to boost me up to the 28 composite range, but not enough for the 29 I need to get an invitation to honors].
What is the acceptance rate in terms of petitioning? My GPA [highschool] is a 3.8 UW and a 4.443 weighted. 5 APs total - a 5 in AP Lang already from last year.
Thanks! x

that has all the info about admission by petition as well as the application to do so. I don’t think they consider AP scores, however.

That’s a pretty solid GPA, and with your essay and 28 on the ACT (assuming you get it), you have a good chance. You’d have to really mess up on the essay or write something horrible (mean) to not get in.

I think you have a reasonably good chance of admission to Honors by petition due to your high GPA (great job, btw!).

Give it a try.
