Hi everyone!! New here! I have previously read some topics about the FSU Honors Program and attending UF as a regular. So here is my post about me, any help is much appreciated!! Recently discovered I was accepted to UF, started crying. It is basically the dream school. I want to follow a pre med track and was hoping for advice on which university to attend! FSU Honors has a lot of perks…early registration, Best dorm(Landis) etc… I really would like to get classes I want, so the early registration sounded great knowing that at UF freshman get the leftovers…However, UF is a top tier school with a well known medical school. If I choose FSU, I can always transfer to UF, right? Aha ha… Help. I have not visited any campuses yet, but I’m fine with any type of campus. Thank you!

Going to UF doesn’t increases your chances at getting into UF’s med school (not enough to matter, anyway). However, UF does produce far more med school applicants.

In 2012, UF had 713 applicants while FSU produced 259 (while both schools have about the same number of undergrads…around 32K).

However, if you’re one of the 259, it doesn’t matter if another school produced more applicants. But, it does shows that UF is able to produce more students that are in a position to apply to med school.

Going to UF and not being in honors will not hurt your chances, as compared to FSU + Honors. Only let honor’s play a role in your choice, because you would love taking honor’s classes, and doing the extra effort required.

Finally, it is possible to apply to UF honors, if you haven’t been offered the program by UF. They require 2 essays, and a completed form.

Good Luck!
