Hey! I was recently rejected from UF as of the March 27th Decision day. I am honestly extremely confused on why I was rejected. I applied after the November 1st deadline but it was because of the death of my grandfather. I was wondering if any of you thought it was worth appealing.
Weighted GPA: 4.89
Class Rank: 20/448 (4%)
SAT: 1330
Service Hours: 500
Extracurriculars: Lacrosse team Captain and player for 3 years, President of NHS, Spanish Honor Society Member, 3 year SGA executive board member, board member of a state suicide prevention initative, founded mental health club at school
I have also done dual enrollment courses and 8 AP classes.
Please let me know as soon as possible and if you know the chances that they overturn my decision.
A rejection is appealable at UF?
Yes
From what I heard, UF had 47,000 applicants in the first admission stage and had very, very little room to accept other applicants after the Nov. 1 deadline. I’m sorry to hear about your rejection but they might understand if you explain why you submitted your application late.
SAT is a little low, UCF may have been a better fit.

The death of a grandparent should set you back a few days. I don’t see it as a reason to miss the Nov 1 deadline. Which was well known for a long time. Also, your 1330 SAT was only the 25th percentile for the 2023 class. Almost certainly it will be below the 25th percentile for this 2024 class.
