How is it that UF goes about offering their scholarships and grants? For example, do they go by things such as SAT score, GPA, and class rank, or does it go case by case looking at need?

Also, how do they actually come to you about your having been awarded a scholarship/grant?

There are departmental scholarships that you can look for through their websites. This is in case you are not rewarded anything from UF directly when they asses your application (and even if they do reward you a scholarship). For example, here are some engineering (ECE) scholarships:

There's a lot out there that many students do not know about, so it is not that difficult to be rewarded one. I remember talking to one of the ECE professors who is on the committee that decides who receives the scholarships and he said that most of the time they give EVERYONE who applied the scholarship money because so few applied. Just visit your department's website and see if they have any offerings, it is more common in engineering, but you may be able to find something in other departments.

my award was also revised......
they reduced the amount of grant from 9xxx to 3xxx......and they increased the amount of loan from 3xxx to 5xxx......

lol so great....i earn $5k in scholarships and what do i get in return? like $7k in loans. whereas before my i had $5k in loans AND a student work study. UF is really pushin for the loans.

so random question. how popular are segways on campus?

my $5k scholarships would cover my $5k loans. then my out of pocket would just be the EFC and books/etc.

lol i asked this question beforem if scholarships would reduce grants. now i know the answer. YES. it reduces grants, removes work study and ADDS on more loans. sigh
