Hi
So I applied for fall 2009 after the Nov 1st 2008 deadline and got accepted today for Spring 2010. This means that I gotta skip a semester, get behind, and start in Jan 2010. So now I'm debating whether or not I should wait a semester or go to UCF and start in fall with everybody else.

BTW I am majoring in pre-med if that makes any difference

Move to Gainesville and take first semester classes at Sante Fe (Gen Ed. requirements). They will transfer over easily and you will be not be behind at all come January.

college isn’t high school. take the semester off…get a job/save money/ backpack Europe/ join a non-profit and help others less fortunate…

the list is endless…

then start in spring

of course if you are measuring yourself against other kids in your high school who got accepted fall 09 and you consider UF to be an extension of high school…well then…

For some people, yes. Calc at UF from what I have heard (I came in with a lot of math credits so I never actually took any Calc at UF) is a weed-out class.

At UF, it will be harder to get an A, but remember that you need like a C to pass, so UF considers anyone with a C or above to be adequately prepared. If you earned a C at UF, you might have gotten a B or A at a CC, and so for ultimately getting the same level of knowledge (the basic calc curriculum isn’t much different between places), you saved yourself the misery of getting a worse grade at UF.

Well I was thinking about taking the semester off so its nice to know someone agrees with me. As for the other suggestion about taking classes at a community college, can I take like summer and fall semesters at UCF and then transfer those credit to UF. I just don’t want to go to a community college

“Master, did u send in ur request to change your term fo entry?”

I applied for the fall and they said they did not have space for my preferred term. So Change of term of entry won’t really work

what’s wrong with comm college? its cheaper lol.

As far as transferring; UF only wants applicants who at least have 60 credits remember, so of course you’re not reapplying to UF. Are you trying to get some of those couses out the way before you enroll in Jan? If so, I don’t see an issue with that, you should call UF just to be sure.

15 hours could be 1 class in the Summer and 4 in the Fall, or 5 in Fall. Actually any combination that doesn’t get you over 15. Generally yours classes will be 3 hours credit, except for those that may have a lab like Chemistry, Biology, etc. and they’ll be 4. Some classes are 2 and some 5, but 3 is the average.
