I got into UF SSTP (as an international student) i heard that only 2 get in. I am also planning to apply to HSHSP. What is more prestigious? What has a better experience? and please, if you've attended either, let me know. I'd really appreciate personal accounts :)

Let me start by saying I have no idea what HSHSP is. Kinda sounds like a virus.

All I know is SSTP. I have not heard of an international quota. In fact we did not have any international students last year, just out of state students. SSTP was the best summer of my life. It’s was an excellent introduction to college science and life. I met amazing people who I still talk to. I had unforgettable experiences. And let me just repeat that it was indeed the best summer of my life.

But you need to figure out what you want to do with you summer? There were top notch students at SSTP and then there were some not so top notch students. There were cool kids and extremely nerdy kids. But we all were nerdy. There was lab drama. There was people drama. There were rules broken. There were incredible labs, there were horrible labs.

I need to go to sleep so I will answer your questions later. :D

^ I just applied! You make it sounds great If I get in I will definitely be PMing you for more questions. But for now, about how long did it take them to process your application? I know it’s rolling, and I did apply pretty late. Also, how are you/your friends from SSTP doing in college admissions (at least the ones who are seniors)? Thanks!

HSPSP is about the same prestige, I think. Go to whichever you want.

animagusmuggle, what do you mean rules were broken… and lab drama?.. i’ve never heard of lab drama before hahaha by the way… is there a CVS nearby? because i need to get a phone as soon as i get back. I was going to apply for other things too… but I’m tired and I think i’ll enjoy SSTP let me know! thanks :)

I know people who applied before the “deadline.” And they already have been notified. You won’t have to wait long!

Lab drama - Some labs are better than others. You might have the best professor in the world or you might have someone you just want to forget. There were very few problems with labs though! They try really hard to find a good lab that matches your interests.

Rules broken - You will just have to find out when you get there. :D

CVS - I am sure there was a CVS in Gainesville. I can’t tell you where it is, but it is a college town. They have EVERYTHING.
