Uf Summer B

Do any scholarships cover it? If not do you pay per credit, and how much is that??

per credit. I think its $103 per credit now. If you live in housing then you have to take 6 credits minimum. Also you have to pay for housing, if on campus (~$650). Food, decide what you want.

I dont know if scholarships cover it. I know brights futures doesn't because UF usually runs out of money when they give people aid for fall/spring.

Is it true that I have to take 6 credits minimum in order to live on campus?

I saw from the Housing FAQs that "During summer terms, you must be registered for a minimum of one semester hour per each summer term that you wish to live on campus."

I guess your right; just looked it up. The six credit rule only applies to people that work for housing. Sorry.

I have a feww questions about summer B
1. what classes (high level ones) can be taken to get any premed rquirments out the way?

2, how many days a week do Summer B students typically go to class?

is the partying fun as hell during summer?

does anyone know which dorm has the most black chicks usually (not trying to get racial but i love me a fine black grl but i am definitely not against white girls cuz my ex is white... jus wanna clarify)?

which dorm is usually the best to stay in (party wise) during summer

I have a few questions about summer B:

what classes (high level ones) can be taken to get any premed rquirments out the way?
---> Basically none, unless you want to take organic 2. The only classes that would help is taking a language or statistics to get one of your math credit out the way. Here are the classes offered summer b: http://www.clas.ufl.edu/students/summer/summer-b.html

2, how many days a week do Summer B students typically go to class?
--->everyday for most classes

is the partying fun as hell during summer?
----> don't know, I know party.....as a premed you will spend most of your time studying, doing research, or getting clinical experience

does anyone know which dorm has the most black chicks usually (not trying to get racial but i love me a fine black grl but i am definitely not against white girls cuz my ex is white... jus wanna clarify)?
--->whatever, pretty even

which dorm is usually the best to stay in (party wise) during summer
---> jennings and hume

1. what classes (high level ones) can be taken to get any premed requirments out the way?
Go to http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/ and scroll down to the biology/chemistry/etc. and you'll find courses you can take. For any of the premed requirements, you're gonna have to stay the whole summer. Biology, physics, labs, chemistry, organic chemistry is for the whole summer. Taking organic over summer is a popular choice, supposedly it's easier, but I can't say that's for sure.
Every day, MTWRF, for 75 minutes with 15 minute break in between classes. I mean they are covering a whole course in 6 weeks, so you have to meet every day.

3. is the partying fun as hell during summer?
It's pretty good! I went to more parties over summer than I did Fall or Spring because I had a lot of free time.

lol I'm not sure man. My guess is that they're pretty equally distributed. (remember there is a limited amount of dorms they use for summer, so chances are you're gonna find an equal number of girls at any dorm you choose)

5. which dorm is usually the best to stay in (party wise) during summer
Parties are usually off-campus, that's at least where I went when I was in the dorms. Hanging out on university is probably what you will do most of the time, so any dorm will do for that.

ASMAJ beat me to it! LOL, but do listen to him or her, focus on your work- you're premed. :)

gatoreng, how do you do the quote thing?

(quote) 'your text' (/quote)

But instead of () use []

So the only help we can get for summer is federal money? Does that mean we would be paying out of pocket?

Would you recommend taking 2 classes during summer?

I recommend you talk to the financial aid office about summer aid. Depending on your situation, they can work something out for you. But yea, summer is costly, that's why a lot of people don't do it and take usually no more than 2 courses. Yes, 2 courses is pretty manageable over summer.

i am taking AP biology at my school, have read the entire book (Campbell AP Biology) and have not had much trouble getting a B each grading period ( don't study more than 30 min before test but i did spend about 1 1/2 hr reading each night) do you think such a practice would be sufficient for pre med work (micro bio, I & O Chem., Genetic Bio, Calc, etc.) i have 3 other APs as well and i am easily maintaining a 4.4 GPA (would be higher but i hav mad senioritis since i got in ED).

I am going to class, but I think you are confused on what classes are required for med school.

Physics 1 and 2 with lab
General Chemistry 1 and 2 with lab
Biology 1 and 2 with Lab
Organic chemistry 1 and 2 with Lab (for 2)
Biochemistry (for some schools)
2 semesters of a math ( calc 1, calc 2, or stats)
2 semester of English

After you finish those you can take these to help with the mcat: (but not required to apply to med school)

Physiology
Genetics
Eukaryotic Cell Structure
Microbiology (but not before the previous ones)

i know they are not required but if you wanna be competitive you're gonna have to take those type of classes thats y i included them in my question.

does anyone know how appiled physiology and kinesiology is as a major? is is good and will med school like how it looks as a major (i now you can take any major as a premed)? Is it a good make for someone wanting to enter ortho pedics? Exactly how much time do premeds spend study to be successful? I know its a lot of hard work but does that mean most premed hardly ever go outside the lad, class, or their room?

Unlike high school where taking many AP classes will help you get into a better college, taking high level science classes in college is not going to help you get into medical school. Medical schools look at your GPA, MCAT score, clinical experience, and research experience (if you plan on applying to a top medical school). They just want you to take the basic requirements to apply, you can take all those other classes if you major requires it. I know people majoring in psychology so they have all the easy psychology classes while taking their premed requirements, so their GPA doesnt suffer.

Pick whatever major you want, they don't care. You will have to prove yourself in medical school to apply for an orthopedics residency and then prove yourself in residency to apply for a pediatric orthopedics fellowship.

does anyone one know about applied physiology and kinesiology as a major?

Dont know much about it but I can list what majors the medical students (4MS) I met did. Here are what residencies they got after match day.

Applied physiology and kines (psychiatry)
Psychology (dermatology)
Physics (Neurosurgery)
Biology (Internal Medicine)
Biology (Pathology)
Psychology (Pediatrics)
Neuroscience (Neurosurgery)
