@GatorTR I’m trying for the fall as well, 3.3 GPA (should go up as I am taking 15 credit hours with straight A’s so far). Applying as a Public Relations major, too.
Hey guys, I applied to CLAS under microbiology for fall and I got referred on the 13th. Have any of you heard back yet? How long did it take?
@saharasand @adamkennedyt Good luck to the both of you! Let me know if you’re accepted.
For reference, I’m transferring with an AA, 61 credits, some research assistance, and a 3.82 GPA. I hope that’s competitive enough for Psych since it is limited access.
@GatorTR Just accepted today, for reference my application got referred on Feb.28. On Thursday I called the secretary at CLAS (her name is Alisha Olin, she’s great) and asked if there was anything she could do to help move my app forward. She said she would email the advisor who had my app and ask them to put my app on the top of the stack. I’m guessing my decision was put in sometime late this afternoon (Friday) but I only saw it around 9:30 while doing homework and freaked out. You could always try that. They did add two conditionals to my acceptance of B’s in Multivariable Calc 2 and Physics 2 with Calc and Lab this semester. Best of luck to you and you @adamkennedyt
@GatorTR She’s the transfer student secretary at CLAS for a little more clarification. Just call CLAS individually and follow the prompts for transfer applicants. The machine will direct you to her.
*** just to amend this, I only called after my application had been sitting at CLAS for 2 weeks, not right away. I wouldn’t suggest calling before that as they do specifically state it takes 2-3 weeks for decisions, they’ll probably just get frustrated if you call too soon.
@rem1999 mine took just over two weeks, and that’s fast and I’m pretty sure it’s only because I relentlessly bothered them.
@saharasand Congratulations! Thank you for the advice, I’ll try to call them after two or three weeks to see if they can do the same.
@saharasand Congrats! Also my app just got referred yesterday, so I’ll have to give them a call after a few weeks.
Congrats @saharasand! I’ll let you guys know when I hear back. Seems like several of us should get decisions around the same time.
Does anyone know when they’re planning on sending out decisions?
@adamkennedyt, they release decisions on a rolling basis (at least that’s true for CLAS). Do you know what day your application got referred to your college? They say you’re supposed to get a decision 2-4 weeks after you get referred. So in my case, I got referred on March 13th and I’m expecting a decision sometime after the 27th.
@rem1999 My application got referred on March 17th, so I guess I should be expecting a decision sometime in April!
@adamkennedyt I don’t know if varying majors have large differences in how much time it takes to provide decisions, but it seems like you should get your decision shortly after I get mine. I’ll post here when I find out and then you’ll know to expect yours in a few days.
Hi everyone, I recently sent in my app for fall 2018. I applied to the finance program. I have completed 42 credits so far with a 3.3 cum gpa. I am currently enrolled in 18 credits and plan on having at least a 3.6 cum gpa.
My pre-prof gpa is a 3.7 and i plan on having at least a 3.7-3.9
What do you think my chances are?
@valemal123 I sounds like you have a very strong GPA. The transfer acceptance rate for the fall of 2012 was 41%, so it looks like you definitely have a shot.
Update!! I got accepted! It took 19 days to get my decision after I got referred. Good luck to all of you!! Go Gators!
@GatorTR Congrats! I’m patiently waiting for my decision, should be coming any day now!
Hey guys, I thought I would give an update on my application status just in case anyone else ever ends up in a similar situation. The CLAS transfer page briefly mentions that they prefer that applicants have completed at least half of the requirements for admission at the time that the application is submitted, and this rule ended up affecting me. I’m a freshman at FSU, but for Fall I came in with 36 credits from AP courses and by the end of this current (Spring) semester I’ll have 62. This means it’s the right time to transfer as far as my credit standing goes, but the one full semester for which I’ve been in college only provided sufficient time for me to complete three of the nine requirements for the microbiology major.
I called CLAS and the admissions secretary told me that the microbiology program says that while I’m otherwise eligible for admission, provided I successfully complete all of the remaining requirements by the start of the Fall 2018 semester with at least B’s, they want to see my grades for the current semester so that they have enough to make a decision on as of yet. This means that I likely won’t get a decision until sometime in mid-June.
I would also advise those of you who go 3+ weeks after referral without a decision to go ahead and call your college. If I hadn’t reached out to them I wouldn’t have known to resend my FSU transcript at the end of this semester.
Good luck to those of you who are yet to hear back!
After over 4 weeks of waiting, I finally heard back. I got in! I applied to the College of Journalism and Communications. I am a current sophomore with a transfer GPA of 3.3 and will finish this semester with 63 credits. Good luck to everyone!
Just an update, I’m a high school student graduating with my AA with 84 college credits, I applied late and my application was referred to the College of Liberal Arts and Science on 2/14/2018 4 days shy of 2 MONTHS there was still no response from UF. So I emailed admissions, who emailed CLAS and within an hour I was accepted to UF!! The problem is I applied for summer B and by the time they sent me the gator link (which came days later) and updated the system with my information it left me with about 24 hours to submit all this information. So now I either have to submit a term change request for Fall or go with my second choice which is USF, who gave me 2 merit scholarships, and I was accepted to their honors program which offers even more scholarships through them, with that including bright futures my college would be paid for at USF. UF gave no merit as far as I can tell cause there system is still updating everyday with my info. And now I have a big choice to make, I just wish UF’s admission process was on point like the other university’s (whom send your Id with your acceptance email). I found it more stressful than college and high school and they still haven’t sent me housing information despite paying the $25. sigh
