UF and UMD college park are currently my top two schools. I am having a difficult time deciding between the two. I am from Maryland, and was accepted into the scholars program. I was planning on studying the sciences, but I think I will change to business after taking a wide range of classes my senior year and finding a different interest. I do not believe I would do well in the difficult math classes and some of the harder science classes based off of my results in high school. I am now interested in these subjects: economics, finance, and possibly accounting. Aside from academics for both schools, I like Florida because of the great college town atmosphere, the school spirit, the weather, and the new experience. However, I like the campus quad at umd and the school spirit, but I really want to go out of state and have a new experience. Do you think paying the out of state tuition is worth going to the school I want to go to, and do you think it will provide me with better academics/career in the long run based on what I want to study?

I’m sorry to disappoint you by saying no. If you want to go to Florida because of the weather, college town, school spirit, and new experiences, fine. But it’s not going to provide you with a better education than Maryland. You are lucky you only have to pay instate fees to Maryland. Some of us are willing to pay out of state fees to attend that great institution.

Good luck with your decision.
