UGA EA Class of 2025

Does anyone know if a student has been given a scholarship, already, are they still eligible for the foundation scholarship? Also, when do they receive an invite to the foundation fellows? Can’t seem to find info on this.

What did they base this year’s honors/scholarship requirements on with such limited time? I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get in, but congrats to everyone who did!

Where exactly?

The drop-down is on the right. I don’t think honors was an option before today.

I’d like to know this as well.

Generally per someone who attended an admission session, the auto admit honors people are top 10 percent in scores, top 10 percent in rigor and top 10 percent in GPA of all admitted applicants. They do let some people in who apply as well but it is not a huge class. UGA freshman class is around 5200 students and under 700 freshmen are in the honors college.

You’d think an honors auto-admit would get a scholarship offer given those numbers (mine didn’t).

More people admitted to honors than there are scholarships. Also don’t know if you are out of state but it seems like most merit scholarship dollars go to out of state applicants.

Ramsey awards/Foundation Fellow invites go out in January, and interview weekend is the last weekend in February. Many students invited will have already been offered a lower scholarship with their honors acceptance.

@itsgettingreal21 I got a scholarship but no honors admit. do you think i still have a shot at foundation fellows? or is it usually people who are auto-admitted to honors

My D heard the same thing as @VirginiaBelle and it makes sense based on the sampling at my D’s school. So far, of the 26 kids accepted she only knows one who got honors… the one with the highest standardized test score (1570… the 1560 and lower kids did not get auto-admit.) Hopefully my D will get in with the honors application if there is a more holistic review. But darn, another essay to work in.

Thank you.

Yes, OOS (Virginia!) 35 ACT, 4.0 UW, 10 AP, etc. Got into Honors. Really hoping for a little doh re me

I’m not certain about this year, but typically they are auto admits to honors.

Not sure how to start a new message - so this is a reply. My daughter has a 4.56 GPA weighted in school (not sure UGA GPA), 32 superscore (30 composite), will have 9 APs and a dual enrollment. She got accepted which was awesome given the overall #s and today received the classic scholarship which is $9,520 (half OOS waiver). Every bit helps. I hoped for the full waiver. UGA is quite strong - not sure if employers know (for example, mine would hold any college equally whether Kennesaw, UGA, Tennessee, Florida, etc.) but it’s very obvious the quality of student body and their experience is awesome. When you go by ranking, it’s still early - haven’t gotten any $ from lower ranked Pitt but hopefully they come through. I actually had my daughter “over apply” - 20 schools - because if Covid is here to stay, parents may not send their kids to sit in the dorm for Zoom class - and then $$ may flow as seats need to be filled. I hope to be back to normal but you never know. There is nothing about Honors on her letter and based on past years and today’s feed I assume she did not get in. Good luck to all and I hope everybody finds happiness wherever they attend (let’s be honest, all schools are great schools and you can have a great or not so great experience at any).

@tsbna44 Congrats! That’s awesome that your daughter got the scholarship offer. Mine got honors but no scholarship, hmmm (35ACT, 4.0 UW, 10 APs, etc.), so I’m wondering if that could come later? We are OOS, so that would make a difference.

My son got the scholarship email last night…but no mention of honors? He received two scholarships and one was valued at $82,000 over four years. He received both the “Presidential Waiver” for full in-state tuition difference, as well as the “One UGA Scholarship” for additional money per year ($1500 per year additional).

It seems like a very generous package to me…and perhaps even close to the max they are giving? I wonder why no Honors acceptance?

UW GPA 3.99/4
Weighted GPA 4.5 (but complicated by two years in an international school)
Top 1.5% of HS class (6/412 but should be higher, but International AP classes did not gain full credit)
19 AP/IB classes
Full IB diploma and concurrent Bilingual IB diploma candidate
Lots and lots of EC’s and varsity sports

SO strange how some got scholarship and some got honors?! Seems like similar stats too… Very flattered and thankful for the 2 scholarships…but he was hoping for honors.

It seems strange that more people are receiving scholarships without honors? My daughter has a 4.0 UW (4.5? UGA), 36 ACT, NMSF, 3 sport athlete, 4 year service award and has worked during the school year over the past two years (currently essential worker). We’re OOS and she received honors but no scholarship.

@nanosec Same, honors but no scholarship. OOS.

Congratulations on the scholarships and honors!

I think many of us had hoped our kids could avoid another application with the honors auto-admit. Our GC told us (and VirginaBelle mentioned this above) that the auto-admits are based on stats rather than a more holistic review. So my D was bummed but not really surprised that she did not get it. Our school limits APs so our kids UGA GPAs are not going to be at the tippy top of the accepted group, even when classes are the highest rigor offered. Which for our kids leaves standardized tests… the only kid at my D’s school who got in honors had the highest SAT of the accepted group (25+ kids total).

Regarding the scholarships, if you look at last year’s UGA threads on CC you will see many posts about kids getting scholarships (including additional scholarships) in March and April. A good many of those posts were from OOS kids going from the half tuition waiver received months earlier to full tuition waiver, etc.

This is my first time through this process so I am sharing research rather than my own experience. I should say RECENT experience… I had a full ride to UGA way back in the day and as competitive as it is now I wouldn’t even be accepted!
