Can you guys give me an idea on what you think my chances of being admitted to UGA EA are? I very nervous due to my lower gpa/act score.

UGA GPA: 3.831
ACT: 27 (I wish I would have retaken it)
AP Classes: 8 - American History, American Gov, Macroecon, Chem, Comp Lit, Psych, Calculus AB, Spanish)

Is there a chance that I will be admitted EA? I know it's really competitive and there are lots of better applicants. Maybe I'll somehow slide through?

I don’t know why you think your GPA and scores are low…? A 3.83 was the average GPA for the incoming class last year and that is a great GPA.
A 27 ACT is nothing to be upset about either. If it helps, UGA only cares about the English and math portions of the ACT and uses the writing score for their own personal records. So if you messed up the science part, no big deal.
Also, the UGA average ACT is a 28, so, you aren’t lagging.
Your APs are also very rigorous and impressive.

You shouldn’t have a problem getting admitted EA, in my opinion, but admissions are crazy sometimes. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I just feel like my stats are rather low for early admissions. I’ve seen somewhere that the average accepted EA applicants have a 4.0 GPA as well as well as a 30 ACT score. Thank you for the reassurance, though. I greatly appreciate it!

I had a couple friends with lower GPAs get in early (around 3.65-3.70). As you know, admissions get harder every year but I still feel you stand a good chance!

Even if you are deferred to regular, there is nothing wrong with that! You will then have the opportunity to add personal essays and a teacher rec. Also, UGA has a small admissions wave in February for those who applied early and got deferred OR those who applied regular but met early action criteria. I think if you don’t get in early, you will definitely get in February or March. I’d be shocked if you didn’t.

Keep up the good grades though! If you start falling behind and getting Cs or lower, they can rescind (rarely happens, though).

My guess would be deferred, if only for the ACT score. Still plenty of time to retake it and apply regular decision, even if it is a pain. And if you get accepted, good deal, no essays! But you won’t be denied outright so either outcome will be fine! Just remain optimistic. c:

Just to update, I received notice today that I have been accepted to the University of Georgia EA. I hope this post helps anyone who is looking for chances!
