UGA for the non-drinker

I know that UGA is known for its downtown/party scene, but what if you don't drink, and don't plan on starting? What are other alternatives? Also, how bad is the partying at the different droms, and what do students who don't drink when there are parties in the dorm rooms?

When you find out what you can do that doesn't involve drinking, come tell me because I still haven't figured that out yet. I don't think there are really parties (with alcohol) in the dorms...that's just plain stupid. People come back in the early hours in the morning from parties, but parties in the dorms really are just stupid. If there happens to be alcohol in the room you're in, and you're in a dorm, get. out. I wouldn't risk being caught in the room even if you haven't been drinking. You could probably still get in trouble for being there.

It's definitely possible to have a good time without drinking, but you will probably be around alcohol at some point if you go to parties off-campus. Some of the better non-alcoholic events includes the Dawgs After Dark nights which happen usually the Fridays before home football games. There are also tons of concerts, events, lectures, talks, etc. to attend, but the weekends do have a more limited nonalcoholic selection. Also, it's definitely possible to go to events where alcohol is available and not drink- people shouldn't give you a hard time about it, especially if you're with friends.

Partying in dorms is pretty limited- some people do bring a decent alcohol stash, but usually keep it on the down low to avoid raising the ire of the RAs. It's much more likely for dorm "parties" to be random gatherings of people just hanging out, watching a game, etc.

Wow, that sucks. I hope I can find things to do for fun(especially on the weekends with no football games) . I definitely don't want to come back home every weekend just to find things to do.
