DD Accepted (deferred EA)

Anyone know when scholorships are released?

Why has UGA gotten really competitive to get in to? Had highest average UGA gpa and act score, yet still got waitlisted. Was deferred from EA as well.

I’m admittedly surprised with how competitive it’s gotten in recent years, as well.

Aside from the increased academic profile of the school in recent years, I’d be tempted to say it has something to do with how amazing Athens and the university grounds itself are. Our daughter visited a lot of schools the last couple of years - including Ann Arbor and Chapel Hill - and Athens was her favorite by a mile; but understand that many aren’t able to visit every campus they apply to before being admitted so that’s likely not the reason.

Ultimately - I think it’s a combo of UGA becoming more competitive as a standalone institution along with the general increase of applications at all universities in recent years. The increase is indeed staggering.

I read on the UGA admissions blog that of all the grades on every transcript of every admitted student, 88% of all unweighted letter grades were A’s and 11.5 % were B’s (meaning just .5% of all grades on all transcripts were Cs).

That’s pretty nuts IMO.
