"And the girls are beyond beautiful."

I agree with you on that one!

Whoever said both schools are solid in engineering is HIGHLY misinformed. UGA isn't even a blip on the radar, seriously. Everyone I know that graduated from GT started out making at least $60k+. Everyone I know that graduated UGA, other than the people that did the 5 yr accounting program, are either in a job they like that doesn't pay well or a job that they hate that doesn't pay well.

You can graduate UGA without putting alot of effort into it. I've heard all of the first hand accounts. You won't last more than 2 semester at tech if you don't bust your @ss studying, especially in engineering.

Anyway, a while back I made a decision, do I want to have a horrible 4 yrs at a school and miss out on all the fun stuff to pretty much position myself to have a lucrative career the rest of my life ? Or do I go to a party school and see where it takes me? I passed on UGA and have never regretted it! (but let me assure you, those 4 yrs were indeed horrible)

For the record, I do think UGA is a great school. Some programs better than others but comparing the two is really apples and oranges. It really depends on what you want to study and what kind of outside of the classroom interests you have. Also, the girls at UGA are amazing!

I'm sure that you have already made your decision, but I think that your decision should really depend on your quality of life and your commitment to engineering.

As a girl who could have been accepted to the GT Honors program but decided the UGA honors program instead, I recommend that you go to GT. I prefer the environment at UGA and am planning on majoring in Businness/pre-law. UGA was a better option for me. However, if you have strong interests in engineering, GT is a much better opportunity. Although, if you cannot stand ATL or the ridiculously old dorms, UGA is probably for you. UGA is also for you if you think that you will struggle greatly with the math/science of GT.

You are lucky! Both schools are awesome!

To everyone who's planning on majoring in Business: According to businessweek, UGA's undergraduate business program is ranked 44th in the nation while GT is 55th. I believe it was the inverse last year. So UGA is definitely making a lot of effort to have its business program recognized.

While that may be true, Tech's MBA program is 29th; whereas UGA is 49th:Georgia Tech - College of Management | News Room | Georgia Tech's MBA Program Ranked 29th in U.S. News & World Report

what about the bio/pre-med track?

thanks for the tip cb21, but I won't get a MBA from either UGA or Tech. I need a more respected MBA program like UC-Berkeley's or UCLA's because I want to do investment banking.

Here's my take on it.

GT = Hell

UGA = Paradise

Constantly being in Paradise can be horrible.

Escaping from Hell everyone now and then is pure bliss.

Make some friends at UGA. Find a girl there. Escape Hell not TOO often so
Athens doesn't get too boring. Enjoy.

You get the best of BOTH worlds.
