I am a Junior in High school looking for a college in the south. I’m interested in accounting and am considering Ole Miss and Uga. Both of these schools have respected accounting programs, great college towns, and wonderful greek life. I have a 3.2 unweighted GPA and a 3.8 weighted GPA. I scored a 30 on my ACT and have not taken the SAT yet. If it matters I scored in the top 98% on my PSAT during sophomore year. So basically my question is, which school has the better accounting program? If anybody has any recommendations on other schools that would be appreciated. Thanks!
You’re not guaranteed to get into UGA like you are Ole Miss. Apply to both and if you’re a Georgia resident who requires financial aid, Georgia Southern and Georgia College and State University.
Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, and UTennessee all have top 25 undergraduate accounting programs. Of these, UGA is the most difficult for college admission. See the following link for rankings of accounting programs.

What was your PSAT for junior year (don’t say that you didn’t take it!)
How much will your parents pay each year for college? UGa is expensive OOS and doesn’t give much/any aid.
Thanks for the replies. My PSAT junior year was a 217. UGA is not my top pick considering that there is a high chance I may not get in and it would be expensive. The reason I asked is because I recently toured the campus and loved Athens. I am also considering The University of Alabama because I have alir of family near Tuscaloosa and my mom graduated there. My parents are willing to pay the cost of any school that is close to what it would cost if I attended it in-state.
What state are you in?
Florida. I most likely won’t get in to UF. I’m applying to FSU as well but these other colleges just seem to fit me well.
Well, the NMSC qualifying score for 2015 NMSFs was 211 in Florida, so you will probably be a National Merit Semifinalist. Take the SAT. What are your grades like? Do you have Cs? If so, how many? You may be a good candidate for NM Finalist, and UA gives a really good scholarship for NMFs. Ole Miss does too, I believe.
Have you heard much about the NMSC program? You get NMSF just based on the PSAT score, and if you get a decent SAT score (usually above 1960), write an essay, get a recommendation, and have decent grades (Cs seem to be a killer though), you can probably make NMF.
Did you take the PSAT junior year? If so, you have a chance of getting an excellent financial deal at Ole Miss, Alabama, and a number of other schools strong in accounting with fantastic corporate recruiting.
Yes, I took the PSAT junior year and I have about 5 C’s. I’ve head that Mississippi will waive out of state tuition if you have a 3.0 GPA and a 32 ACT. Can anyone confirm? I may consider retaking the ACT and try to get a 32.

Looks like you’d get a chunk out of OOS even with a 30. But a 32 would waive all of it.
Would probably be close to tuition free with a 32.
