ugh. possible rescind?

kinda complicated but here it goes. i needed to fulfill my fine art requirement for hs graduation (i will be using dance 1 as ucb vpa requirement bc dance 1 counts as my pe requirement for hs) so i enrolled in a cc fall semester 2007. i tried to sign up for ceramics but was full so i ended up with history of western art with a teacher with a bad reputation. the class was on saturdays at 9 am, was extremely boring and unexpectedly hard. i had to miss 3 classes; 2 for sat's and 1 for a family emergency. i should have received a C in the class but received a D because attendance was part of my grade. without this course counted in my 1st semester gpa, i have a 3.16 uw but counting it in i have a 2.85 uw. i decided to contact my professor and explain my situation and asked if anything can be done. i also decided to not contact berkeley until i get a response from my professor. if things dont work out with my professor, i was possibly thinking of taking an art course during summer at cc to replace/make up that grade. i am extremely afraid that my admission with be rescinded.

any suggestions/opinions regarding my horrible situation?

anyone ???

First talk to your professor, then talk to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions

anymore? do you guys think there is a huge possibility of rescinding?

bump. haven't received a response from my professor and its been 5 days. should i just contact Berkeley?

yes (10-char)

You know, I believe you don't even have to report the grade to Berkeley. As far as they know, you never took a class at a CC. The only grades you have to submit is your high school grades.

If you only need this class for graduating high school and not Berkeley's A-G requirements then I wouldn't tell Berkeley about it. If you do need it to fulfill one of Berkeley's requirements, I'd just ask Berkeley if you can take a class over the summer to fulfill it.

You can call up Berkeley to be sure; they wouldn't try to track you down if you decide later that you're not going to tell Berkeley about your CC grade.

I don't know if this is at all like you situation, but if it is ever going to show up on anything you send to berks, then do email the admissions office. I emailed about a D grade in community college calc (it was listed as an in progress course on my app, so i really had no choice), I got a very nice response back saying that since I was a good kid and let them know about it, my admission status wouldn't change...

I thought the fine arts thing had to be one year of the same art, showing in depth learning- so would it have to be dance for the 2nd semestre?

I do have to report the grade to Berkeley because I put it on my application as a course in progress and it is on my official transcript because I need the class to graduate hs.

somemom: One semester of a college course = one year of hs course. Therefore, I did technically did one year of fine arts. For my hs pe (which counts as a UC fine art) I took dance 1 my freshman year and dance 2 my sophomore year.

I've decided to contact Berkeley today :[. Hopefully nothing major will happen and they will let me take a cc course to make up the grade.

Wish me luck !

What's harder to reverse a rescind.. a D or under a 3.0 first semester.

Idk but I'm screwed. I'm really scared. I contacted them today already :[

I need to contact.. my officer too.. How did you contact them? Email? or mail?

I contacted them through myberkeleyapp. On the right hand side , it says my contacts, click undergraduate admissions and email them through that.

ohh i see. thanks.. i guess i better notify them soon.. tell me what happens to yours :)

20 something admissions were rescinded last year. Uh oh.

I was so surprised by how quickly I got a response back. They told me that they will not rescind my admission as long as I have all A's and B's this semester. Hoorayyy ! I'm so happy :]

Oh that's nice to hear because I have the same problem. I shall contact them soon.
