ugh.

I'm not sure if anyone has a similar problem or not, but there is one class this year that is giving me trouble. the grades i'm receiving are TOTALLY out of sync with the rest of my other courses and don't really reflect all my accomplishments i have made in high school. although the class itself is difficult, the teacher is not a good person. when i or my friends seek him out for extra help, he is almost always making excuses saying that he is grading papers or has other committments. moreover, there was one incident when i asked him a question after class and he lectured me for 5 minutes (he could have used this time to answer my question) becuase i did not ask him while he was teaching; i quote one his phrases exactly," you would be making my life and everyone elses' a whole lot easier if you asked this earlier." he's just one of those teachers who follow the cliche mentallity that just becuase it's a college class he is allowed to be impersonal and distant from his students.... anyway, i don't know if it would be a good idea to write or email a letter to admissions, and not just to Swarthmore, but to my other schools explaining my situation, also, i don't want to sound as if i'm desperate to do anything to get accepted either. i know it's not a good idea to blame things on the teacher too. i understand that i could have dropped this course and received a significantly better grade overall, but i know it's even more important to have an academically challenging senior year. will admissions really look at the whole picture; i've done every thing i could to be as elible a candidate as i can. i understand the unfortunate possibility for rejection, i know, it's a tough school, but i don't want to be just becuase of one grade, i'm sure there are other reasons to not accept me. by the numbers i'm not the most attractive candidate, but i always put 110% effort into every thing i do. thank you to all those who took the time to read this :).

I doubt you'd be thrown out for one grade. If all your grades were falling, it would make sense for them to worry, but if the others are normal for you, they'll probably be intrigued by why that happened but not ready to toss you out for it. Writing to them about why that's happening would not be my recommended course of action: they DO look at the "whole picture."

thank you forgetmetnots; i have no idea what we propectives would do w/out you:)

Hey, I was you guys last year, so I totally feel you! The process should not be this painful, but I know how much the support meant to me last year. :]
