UH-OH!!! I already submitted my essays, and I realize I made a mistake!

Well, I actually made TWO mistakes, and I am completely FREAKING OUT! I promised myself that I wouldn't go back and read my essays after they were submitted because even if I saw an error I wouldn't be able to fix it. WELL, I was just so happy with one of my essays (the Tufts optional), that I wanted to read it to my grandmother, and much to my dismay...... MISTAKES! I left out a comma, but I'm relatively okay with that since it was more of a stylistic preference rather than a necessity. However, I wrote "effected" instead of "Affected"! I know why it happened too; I wrote that something "had an effect" on me, but then I changed it to, "effected me" in an attempt to cut down on the number of words in my essay! I must have forgotten to chance over the e to an a. Do you think that they'll notice that? I did (it jumped out at me as if it were highlighted, circled in red, and written in size 30 font), but then again I'm a grammar wh*re, so......

Do you think that they will think I'm stupid or just that I made a careless error? That sort of thing could go either way . . . stupid mistake or a complete misunderstanding of even the simplest words! :'(

i would say dont worry about it

I'm trying.........

lol. Don't worry about it. I submitted my Common App essay about a week ago.. After reading this thread, I am definitely not going back to read it.

Don't worry about it. I had little mistakes a plenty for my ED essay, but I still got in. Though it certainly does look worse than without it, I do not think it's something that'll make or break you.

I never knew the slgiht difference between "a" and "e" can break a person like this. Interesting discovery, right?
dont worry too much, it's nothing. they won't care so, you don't need to care either :)
Relax, and try to forget about it by doing other interesting stuff.. (eg. helping harvard44 with grammar<-she probably has a dozen of grammar mistakes on each of her essay..)

As they said, you should be fine. One small mistake won't hurt you.

You can't change it because you already submitted it, anyway.
