UIC-GPPA.

heh i''m glad this was brought up. this is my dilemme, basically.Im only doing GPPA for my parents; i really have no desire to go to UIC, GPPA or not. I'd much rather go to WashU, UMich or Northwestern than UIC, just because i know that i'll have a much better experience, with regards to the environment and the kinds of people i'll be around.

So i definitely understand where some of you are coming from. We're forgetting that most people DO take the traditional routh; it's just a little more work but i think it's worth it.

tl1029530921: don't go to gppa. If this isn't one of your choices at all and only parent enforced, you should screw up your interview on purpose if you haven't had it yet. lol

hahaha my 2nd itnerview is this friday and im sorta tempted to, but i want to keep my options open. The one thing i'd like about UIC is being able to continue a foreign language. I won't know if I'd be able to do that at another school when im constantly worrying about my course load and how it would affect ym chances into med school blahblahblah.

Ah well. April shall reveal all.

I think it's funny that, statistically, it's harder to get rejected from the program once you have your second interview than to get in, lol. But yeah, if you go for the screw up route, I can definitely give you pointers there, haha.

They will contact us even if we do not get into the Honors College, right??

Yes, they will contact you. As to when they might tell you, I have no clue because some people still have the Honors interview this Saturday. Good luck!

Thanks!!

So, has anyone who had their first interview on Feb. 16th gotten a call for a second interview???
Just wondering (and hoping someone replies)......

:)

hey sparrow i had my first interview on feb 16th but haven't heard back yet except that i got into the honors college...but no call for second interview..

When are we supposed to find out final decisions...end of march? I can't remember what the guy said.

how good do your grades have to be in order to get in?

I'm pretty sure most applicants are A students, couple B's here and there probably won't hurt you too much also.

Yeah, take it from someone who got a second interview: straight A's are not necessary to get in.

well we don't actually know who got in yet so it might be too early to say that.

on that note, they will notify by e-mail (if i remember correctly) but when? will it be April 1st along w/ all the others?

Ok, well I guess you don't necessarily need them to get far in the process. I don't think "straight A's" is something that is an absolute criterion that you must fill to get in. From my second interview, they're seeking more clinical experience and work in the field than the "stats" end of the bargain.

although the straight As part seems like it may be true, that is not at all the impression I got from my second interview.

I think your stats really only get you as far as the first interview. After that, it's really how you present yourself. I say this because i definitely don't think my application itself is as strong as the top applicants, but i've made it to the second interview. If based on the application alone, I don't think i'd stand much of a chance.

Again, good luck to everyone!

btw..i just got waitlisted at WashU so im starting to try to love UIC just in case i get rejected to Stanford/Northwestern as well..haha..sigh.

^Same here. I have zero clinical experience. NONE. My stats got me to the first interview, but I'm almost confident it was what I said that got me to the finalist level. You have to believe in yourself and your desire to be a doctor to get far. And you win some, you lose some, you know?

@Tl

I'm really sorry about WashU, a lot of my friends who really wanted to go there got waitlisted, too. I feel really bad because I got in and I didn't really give it a second thought after I applied.

does anyone remember when final decisions come out?

The lady in the admissions office told me that it'd be late march/early april, and that all communication would be done by the undergraduate admissions office.

To Those Who Got Accepted,

Please share your stats as the followings:
State of residency
SAT1
ACT
SAT2
AP
HS Rank

Thanks,
