I'm going to visit both schools this upcoming weekend, and although I have a while to decide where I want to go, I am wondering which is the better choice. I plan on becoming a nurse (preferably a RN or a Nurse Pracitioner). Which school has the better program?

I am looking to go to school in Chicago but I don't want a commuter school. I want to be able to make friends through the school. Which is better for this? Also, which is in a better location?

Price is a bit of an issue, but I can make it work for either school, so I'm not too concerned about it at the moment.

UIC has an excellent nursing program. It is one of the best in the country. It is very hard to get accepted. UIC does not accept students into its BSN program until Junior Year. Unless you have a very high GPA, you won’t be accepted. UIC’s CON is located on the west campus off of Damen and between Polk and Taylor. The Damen bus, Roosevelt, and the 157 have nearby stops. If taking the el trains, you can take the Pink line to Polk or take the Blue line to Medical Center. If taking Blue Line, use the Ogden or Damen st exits. UIC’s west campus is in the heart of the IL Medical District.

Both UIC and DePaul have strong commuter elements. They are both urban schools.

UIC is one of those hidden underrated gems with some great faculty members. It is also less expensive than DePaul. I don’t think they offer much in the way of a campus environment though as the previous tesponder said they are both urban campuses. My choice would be UIC.
