Chances at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and Purdue?

Hi everyone, I’m currently a male Indian Junior in TN. Low GPA, Very High ACT, 1420 PSAT, no class rank.I plan to take SAT II Math 2 and SAT II Physics (expecting 760+ on both atleast)

I intend to study Astronomy or CS.

I am super super super nervous about my GPA (don’t have an upward trend…kinda just stagnant). My strengths in my opinion are my ACT and my class rigor (doubled up in math in 9th grade, doubled up in science in 10th grade, Full-IB Diploma in 11th with 5 HL’s)

Appreciate your feedback.

I’d be shocked if Purdue rejected you.

Urbana-Champaign’s CS program is extremely competitive as it falls right below the top schools, so it could go either way.

Good luck!

What about their Astronomy major? I believe its their Liberal Arts and Sciences school that offers it @Buggle

Unsure :expressionless: but I doubt it is as competitive as their CS program.

You’re a solid applicant. I’d say match for UIUC, maybe even safety

You don’t think my GPA is far too low from their average of 3.86? Also, to put into context, the average GPA of applicants to UIUC from my school was 4.49 (mine is 4.1) and the average ACT was 30 (mine is 35) @skyblade1234

You still have this semester. Could you get your GPA up by the end of this year? Also, what extracurriculars do you participate in?

Bunch of stuff from soccer to debating to tutoring to volunteering to coding. I only have 1 week left so I’m pretty set on the 4.1 @pineapple86

with 3.3 gpa and with far less sat/act score than yours, I got into schools ranked higher than UIUC. Honestly I don’t think you should worry too much! With your act score, I honestly think you could even reach for higher-ranked schools!

That’s awesome to hear! Congrats…what kind of schools did you get into if I may ask? @classof2020a
