Hey I am a current UIUC student. I would like to transfer to the UIUC business school, but I am fully aware of how it is very competitive. If I am not granted admission into the business school would it be worthwhile to stay at UIUC and study economics in their LAS school. I am also aware that they have an agriculture finance program in their ACES college.(Not real sure about the marketability of such a degree) I am interested in studying finance and accounting. My other option is that i transfer to UIC and study finance and accounting. How does the reputation play in the long run? I know that UIUC has great contacts. A little input is appreciated.

In the long run, experience is all important. School reputation might help with your first job. As you move into your career, lors and who you know are way more important. I know of people who got liberal arts degrees, but now have careers in business areas. Experience is what got them to that point.
Good major grades/GMAT scores will allow you to get into a good masters program. If your heart is set on finance/accounting, you’ll be happier finding a school which will allow you to study those things.
UIC/UIUC/UIS share the same alumni association. It isn’t uncommon for Chicago area alumni events to occur at UIC.
