I was rejected to UIUC for biology for fall 2015 after being sick my entire junior year and dropping my GPA from a 3.9 to a 3.55 (ACT 31), but my grades in 7th and 8th semester have been significantly better, I will be attending Loyola in the fall and will be taking courses at a local community college this summer, If I manage to maintain a 4.0 college GPA, do I have a chance being accepted to UIUC Integrative Biology as a sophomore or will my previous denial of admission be weighed too heavily against me to the point where I will have no chance until junior transfer is available?
You might have a chance but it depends on their transfer rate etc. Why not stay at Loyola?
The cost is a bit cheaper (I have a lot of scholarships for Loyola so this isn’t a huge deal), but from what I can tell
UIUC has stronger academics and many of my high-school friends are going there.
Just keep in mind that transfers get probably $0 in scholarship money. Loyola Chicago is a good school; it’s a lot different than UIUC and yeah UIUC is like a powerhouse in its own way, but if you have scholarships from Loyola and it’s cheaper for you, it might be worth it to take a step back and analyze. Cost is important and student debt is becoming a huge issue.
I understand that but in the end I want to at least keep my options open, I am more or less just wondering if this is a viable option to pursue.
