UIUC VS OSU

Hello everyone, I’ve been recently admitted to both these schools for business directly and I will want to be studying finance/marketing and hoping to get a job in NYC,Boston,DC,Chicago, etc a big city on the east coast. I wanted to know which of these would be a better pick. I’ve already posted a question on Wall Street Oasis.

I’ve also been given admission to IU( not direct business to Kelley) and University of Richmond with a scholarship which brings the cost of all the universities around the same. Thus, any advice regarding IU and UR would be helpful as well

I would go to URichmond if you want a more personalized education with a powerful network in the DC/VA/mD area (and private education at public price is a good deal).
Otherwise especially if football is important to you, pick the cheapest among tOSU or UIUC. They have a national presence although they are more likely to place in the Midwest.

Oh ok, but is UR’s business school better than UIUC and OSU? In terms of placements and academics. Football isn’t a big factor for me, typically I’d love to go to a big ten school which does have that sporting and passionate vibe to it. However, as an international student, I feel my education has to come first. So I won’t be putting sports at too high a factor in picking my college.

UIUC has an investment banking organization/academy which has been designed to help students break into that field. They also have a very strong finance and marketing program, and a high job placement rate. I also believe that if you want to work in Chicago, UIUC will be your best bet. I don’t know too much about IU or U Richmond in regards to business (although IU has a really strong program). I am in the same boat as you (picking between business schools, OSU is on my list yet I havent visited yet but I will over spring break).

Thanks man, this was really helpful. Glad to hear that someone is in a similar situation as me. Do you mind sharing your email id or instagram account name so that we can talk some more?

You are international. What we think doesn’t matter.

What employers your country think does matter. You will need to get a job when you go home after finishing college and any OPT time that you qualify for.

Ask the career centers at each of these universities where their international students have found placements for CPT in summer vacations, and for OPT after graduation. That information will make your decision for you.

This does make sense however, I’d really want to try and work in the US for a little bit. My cousin was able to work their after studying in LA, so I definitely want to try working in the US. I may have to come back to India after a while based on the Visa laws at the time, but I’m definitely gonna be pushing for a job in the states.

Your cousin likely got an OPT, which allows international college graduates to work for up to two years as practical training.

@Aryaman sorry I just saw your response now! We can for sure talk more…message me directly on this account!
