Currently, I am deciding between UMichigan, UNC, and University of IL at Urbana Champaign. I plan to major in Finance. I recently found out that I was rejected from Ross School of Business (UMich). At UIUC I was admitted into the business honors program. What are the benefits of the honors program and how does it compare to the other three schools?
Also, I would like to clarify that at UMichigan I was not Pre-admitted to Ross School of Business. However, there is still a chance to be admitted after Freshmen year and join Sophomore year through the Regular Decision process for Ross.
My son is in a similar situation, concerning U of Mich and UIUC. (w IU Kelley too)
He has not made a decision yet. (waiting on 1 more school which releases its decisions tomorrow) The UIUC site does a good job explaining the business honors program. My D is a sophomore who has several friends who are in it and love it. You’ve probably already seen it, but here’s the link.
As for comparing the schools I know little about UNC Chapel Hill. On a family vacation 2 yrs ago we visited the campus - not because my son was thinking of attending, but because we were in Pinehurst and decided to go exploring. We did the research triangle tour and frankly, I liked the Duke campus better…not really impressed with the look and feel of UNC in comparison. To be fair we just walked around and did not speak with anyone in admissions.
Michigan seemed like a place my son would be a good fit. However, I’m not sure we can justify the cost of attendance even though we can afford it.
I’m curious. Are you in-state for any of the schools?
