Just wondering, how tough is it to get into UMs 7 year med program? I hear that it is very difficult, but am curious to know exactly how difficult ? With these stats, what would be my chances ? I will be a senior from fall, and Im an Asian from Florida btw. </p>

GPA : 8.0 Weighted, 3.96 / 4.0 Unweighted

IB courses: HL math, bio , english, SL chem, spanish, history
Awards: AIME 1X, Sci Oly states 1st place anatomy and physiology, National History Fair - County 2nd place, several MAO states/regional awards - top 20 , National merit semifinalist, AP scholar with distinction</p>
<p>EC's: Founder/Pres. of Red cross club, Sec / Pres of MAO, founder of USABO club, NHS, Spanish NHS, Captain / #1 for tennis, Violin for 6 years/Orchestra in school for all 4 years
Volunteering- ~500 hours at MOSI, Red Cross, library

<p>I think you have a shot at Columbia … but keep in mind it has like a 5% acceptance rate so it’s very hard to tell how they even narrow down the applicant pool. UM’s program is very hard to get into too just because they accept so few people. I think your stats and extracurriculars are enough to have a decent chance though Keep up the good work!</p>
<p>Oh, I also didn’t see you said Columbia ED… I think you have a good chance for ED too actually. But I wouldn’t apply ED if you are applying to UM’s med program because then when you get into Columbia, you might have taken a potential applicant out of UM’s pool. Be sure if your dream is to go to a ivy or UM’s med program! Good luck! I think you will do great!</p>
