UM -> EMU (Career Advice)

I'm a recent graduate from UofM (BA in econ) and I'm thinking about getting a masters in accounting from EMU. The program is convenient (cheap, close, no prereqs, ect) and I'm pretty sure I would get close to a 4.0 GPA.

I'm just worried that going to Eastern will do more (career) harm than good. Does this make sense?

I've been able to land some decent interviews (Capital One, FTI Consulting, ect), and I'd hope that going to Eastern wouldn't eliminate these options in the future.

My current goal is to go into public accounting, but I want to keep my options open.....

Anyone have any thoughts?

I don’t think this is the best thread to get your answer.

This is a thread where high school seniors tell other high school seniors their chances at getting into Umich.

Try the threads that are about a certain major.

I didn’t want to take this to the business forum because I didn’t think that they would know anything about EMU… I’m hoping there’s someone on here who knows what they’re talking about.

Why not just do a MAcc at UofM?

^^^Very hard to get into the program I would imagine. I know someone in it now and I believe there are only 70 or so students. It is also quite expensive.

Go visit the EMU COB placement office and see their placement history with Big Four accounting firms.

If you can get a position with a Big Four firm and earn a CPA, it really won’t matter where you got your MAcc from. After your first job, employers are more interested in your work experience and where you worked, than where you went to school.
