UM vs FSU for Latin American Studies

I am a Haitian-American high school senior from the Miami-Broward-Palm Beach area and I’m having great difficulty deciding between FSU and UM. I decided to major in Latin American Studies because of my connection to the culture and proficiency in French and Haitian Creole. (I plan to learn Spanish during college) I am extremely familiar with the Coral Gables area and I love it but I dislike the heat and I want to experience a different environment than the one that I am used to. I’ve visited UM twice already and am planning to visit FSU next month. I’ve heard from friends that Tallahassee is a boring place to live but I find FSU’s campus beautiful and I love the school spirit. I’m aware that Miami may offer better academics but I can’t commit to the school for some reason. Can anyone who is involved or aware of the Latin American Studies program at either school kind of give me a rundown of what its like on both campuses?
