UMass Amherst 2023 Decisions

Got rejected, definitely knew this would happen. Good luck everyone!

Confused about rejection, 3.4 GPA 29 ACT, out of state from Wisconsin, grandparent went there

rejected. 3.0, 1120 SAT, expected.

Rejected. But not surprised. 3.4, 1180 SAT, OOS. Although UMass was first choice still have good options where our D is already accepted: Penn State, CU Boulder, U New Hampshire and others.

Rejected for Biology
SAT 1350, GPA 3.8, SAT Math II 730

@optimistic75 wow I’m shocked that you didn’t get deferred instead of rejected. you’re gpa is the same as mine but your sat is 220 points higher than mine and I got deferred.

@optimistic75 I almost just fell of my seat. You got rejected? That’s crazy! Their loss.

Management

DD Nursing major, deferred to RD. OOS, solid stats & exceptional EC.

Application has been withdrawn as UMass Amherst does not make it into her already accepted top 3… No reason to vie for a spot and potentially take it from someone who has Nursing at UMass a top choice.

Good luck all !

Accepted. 4.1 weighted gpa, 1330 SAT, 5 APs, mostly honors classes, varsity athlete, good ECs, solid essay, in state
did not receive any merit

DS withdrew his application. UMass was a longshot even though our whole family is either there now or has graduated. He had other choices; and as @GmanCC said, why vie for a spot and possibly take it away from someone else.

Good luck to all those who were accepted. My daughter graduated from UMass and had a full-time job in her field upon graduation. My senior already has a full-time job in her field lined up after graduation (May 2019). It is a great school.

For those who were rejected, ALL my children transferred in after doing a year somewhere else! It’s a great option. However, if not, good luck, you will find your perfect fit!

I think UMass is making the move toward becoming more akin to UNC and UMaryland. Historically Umass was softer on OOS students because they were bringing in more revenue. In addition, they had an average SAT in the 1100’s, and now that has climbed into the 1200’s, with targets being higher.

This article covers it better than I can:

We haven’t heard a decision as of yet. We are OOS.

Accepted, 1270 SAT. Political Science with a 12K Chancellor’s Award. RD

Anyone know the rules on housing- can freshman have single dorms? Also @AbdSat17 when did you apply?? surprised you heard back so soon!

rejected for CS (my first-choice)
accepted to engineering (second-choice) with a 12k/y award.
SAT 1380
SAT Math 2 - 790
GPA 3.9

I applied on the 29th of December

Does anyone know when financial aid comes out?

My son was accepted EA in December. His “offer” (loans) was up shortly thereafter.

Just got into UMass Amherst for CS with a 14k yearly scholarship! Wow! Applied RD on Jan 15. Really unexpected!
