@2bdbest spire then, they sent something in regarding financial aid
I got accepted OOS no aid
@ryan02190 I got wait-listed at UConn too and have not heard back yet either. I think UConn is slightly harder to get into so I’m hopeful but still really nervous.
Just got accepted last night (OOS)
Stats were relatively low, and UMass offered me some good aid, but OOS is expensive nonetheless. Decisions decisions. :-/
Your stats?
Does anyone have a SAT of 1100 out of 1600 and a 3.65 gpa?
My son is still waiting to hear. We are MA residents. SAT 1890 GPA 3.5 Sent email to UMass yesterday. Here is their reply: We have begun to mail out decision letters and will continue to send them out over the next several weeks. We mail out approximately 3500 letters 2-3 times per week, and have a record 41,000 to send this year. There is no particular order to how they are released. SPIRE accounts are updated 10 days after decisions are mailed out.
@aquan3123123 - I think you will be hearing soon then…
@SQBrit -I hope so
sal0318 - My son emailed last night & received the same automated reply. Good to know that they are not going out in any particular order, but still frustrating none the less. I think my son has narrowed down where he wants to go anyway (UNH or UMaine as all others are too much money), but UMass Amherst was one that would have fallen in an OK price range with the right scholarship. My son MUST have marching band & fencing too which the other schools have…but so does Amherst. One more to choose from in the right price range with the activities he wants would be awesome.
Finally, DS’s status has changed from “deferred to regular action” to “under review”. Realistically, if that means it was just looked at yesterday then we probably won’t get anything official for another week.
Seriously, if we are down to 2000 acceptances left (see @Greeenman57 post earlier) it is hard to believe that it will take that much longer to process. That is almost half of 3500 - their self reported average. Unfortunately, I also think they are saving the denial letters for last since so far noone has reported that they were denied.
Do you guys really badly wanna go to UMass Amherst?
@Yvask95 Yes, UMass Amherst is my top choice and I would love to go there. It’s a great school, not sure why so many people look down on it as a crappy safety school or whatever.
I do know of someone in my school who got denied, but I don’t think he had a chance anyway. 2.4 GPA - he got denied in early March. I think they take care of all the students at the low and high ends of the scale with denials and acceptances because they are easy decisions and it’s the ones in the middle that take longer. I know they say it’s not in any particular order, but the acceptances in my school have only been students that have credentials that are top notch. At least all the ones that I have heard of.
My S has pretty good stats & better stats than many that have already been accepted, so not sure why he is still waiting. He is trying to get into Mechanical Engineering, so maybe that is why? It’s probably too pricey for us anyway given that it is out of state, but you never know…
@Elizabeth46 I agree completely with your assessment. All of DS’s friends with stellar credentials have already heard. I know 4 students inc. DS who are still waiting to hear back. That is within a small circle of DS’s friends! That’s why I find the ~2000 app left to complete such a hard # to believe.
@SQBrit it doesn’t mean 2000 Apps to complete, it means 2000 Apps to accept…
@RickyP - 2000 “slots”, so 2000 acceptances. That is what it seems like by looking at the article, I guess that will be sending out these letters soon.
I got into Uconn, and Quinnipiac with a 20 K scholarship. Also got into Delaware. I got deferred from Umass Amhert. Uconn is a much better school and so is Delaware. In my opinion Umass is trying to make it self look better than it actually is. Im attending Quinnipiac and I am very happy about that decision. Anyone who’s seriously stressed about this don’t be. There are other great schools out there and these colleges really are strange. I had a 93 GpA with AP’s an ok sat score and great recommendations. I wasn’t deferred because I wasn’t qualified. It’s not a big deal if you don’t get in, it actually could be a good thing because you can look at other colleges that are better and meet your needs.
