@ItsPranavK Congratulations!
@MrElonMusk You have to login to SPIRE to get financial aid information. I don’t have any yet but you may.
@MrElonMusk It should be in the same page that showed you your letter and your decision. I hope you get what you desire.
Open Question - Can anyone provide any ratings from a trustable source for CS unis for undergrads in USA and how good Umass is?
Couple of questions for in-state regular decision applicants. Has any in-state business majors been accepted? Has anyone received any merit beyond the Adams Award. UMass is the last decision my son is waiting on before making his final choice…
Yes for in-state business majors and yes for a small amount ($2000 per year) of merit beyond the Adams award.
Do any decisions come out during the weekends?
@icecream25 I dont think so, its futile to check.
Also what is the maximum value for chancellor’s award?
how do you view financial aid? or merit?
@ccollege123 It should be in the same page that showed you your letter and your decision. I hope you get what you desire.
@ccollege123 Merit aid would be communicated with your acceptance. Financial aid will be posted through Spire. Ours isn’t up yet at UMass.
Hi
We are from India. My son got admission in undergrad computer science major, for fall 2018 . We are under confusion regarding selection. Can someone throw light on these universities? 1)Rutgers New Brunswick 2)UMass Amherst 3)Texas A&M College Station 4)UT Dallas 5)FSU Tallahassee 6)University of Florida Gainesville
He got admits in few more like ASU Tempe Indiana University Bloomington , Purdue Polytechnic UC Merced etc.
Could someone throw light on 6 universities listed above, which we would like to consider seriously

I am biased, I am a U-mass Amherst Alum. Amherst is a fabulous town and the CS school is a major focus of investment, has been for some years.
You can check US News for program rankings, but know that they weight 1st year salary heavily, and that in turn is weighted by cost of living. Translation: any 2 schools within 10 spots of each other may not mean the higher ranked is better. Have your son look at the actual degree requirements and course offerings. They are pretty easy to query on the web.
Make sure you know where you are sending your son. I’m in California now, and Massachusetts and New York are the next best states. My opinion, go with U-Mass Amherst. Did I say I was biased?
@vijayavadrevu what your asking in regards to college experience is going to depend on the person. I can tell you that all of those schools are very different just based on location. UMass is in the mountains of Massachusetts in a small town. Rutgers is in New Jersey, very populated and near NYC. The climate is about the same, four seasons, cold winter, snow. Texas is dry and hot and in some places just plain boring. I have only been to Dallas. Everything in Texas is huge and they love football. Florida is a popular place, great beaches, warm humid weather all year long, lots of people. Arizona is a great location, very warm, Grand Canyon, and dry but no beaches. Purdue is in farm country which is different for sure, plenty of corn fields until the cut them down and the just flat land, cold winters and snow, they love football and basketball. UC is in California and thats kinda like Florida except everyone is super worried about how they look, very vain, liberal.
I hope that helps I couldn’t imagine coming from another country and trying to figure this all out. Each location you picked is very different from every other. You may as well have asked what each country is Europe is like, same idea.
@vijayavadrevu , great q. and i agree its confusing imagining whats t will be like in these places. first off congrats… all great schools that your son has gotten into… I normaly divide it into suburban vs city ( or close to). and then the weather. texas and m dalls, tallhasse and UF all warm climates vs Brunswick and Umass are cold in the winter with snow etc, more in Umass vs brunswick. now for the suburban set texas a and m, amherst, talhasse and UF vs city feel would def be dallas and brunswick. i agree with @payasugo they are very different in their culture , midwestern with texasa and m, dallas, florida and talahassee vs brinswick ad amherst very northeastern. Brunswick NJ vs amherst is new england , lot more trees mountains and beautiful nature. i live in new england but have prev lived in the south, so am familiar with both.
good luck…
I’m having a lot of trouble checking the status. It says you can check it below but theres nothing there. just a checklist
I’m awaiting the decision anxiously. Hopefully, it comes out ASAP within the next week. I’m a political science major out of state and I visited UMass Amherst last June and fell in love.
@Y2Kmom - Hate has no home here! Please keep politics out of this discussion. This is UMass decisions 2022 not left wing socialist propaganda opportunity time! The great thing about this entire forum/blog is that it doesn’t go down to that type of bitterness.
Thanks and have a good day!
what days have they typically been releasing decisions? Is it a certain day of the week or just random
