So i know umass has the number 1 sports management program in the country. I have a 3.68 gpa, like 1090 composite score for my sats, a 22 for my acts, and pretty solid extra corricular activities (i.e. captain of jv tennis, manager of girls varsity lax, and i have an internship at a sports markating firm). Im assuming i got rejected from the sports management program due to my SAT scores, how ever i got accepted into UMASS as undeclared. So what are the chances of me transfering into sports management. My problem is I got into other very good sports management schools like temple, indiana, and SUNY cortland. Now is it worth taking the risk of going to umass and transfering in? How hard is it, and what do i have to do to transfer in?

From what I have heard, transferring into the Sports Management Major is very competitive, and there are only a limited number of spots.

There is more information on the UMass web site, but I couldn’t find any statistics. You should probably contact someone at UMass to get a more accurate idea of your chances.

If you go to UMass but then can’t transfer into sports management, what will you do then?

idk, i would be ****ed

It doesn’t sound to me like you should take the chance, then.

Or if your heart is really set on UMass, maybe start at one of the other schools and then try to transfer into Sports Management at UMass for the sophomore year. If you don’t get in, at least you are still in your major at your original school.

thats a good point, but i heard transfering colleges is a ***** to do so i kind of dont want to deal with all that hassle. So you dont think its worth the risk?

Transferring is not complicated, you apply, you get in, or not.

I have no direct knowledge of how hard it is to switch into Sports Management, or statistics or anything. There is some info on the web site but it is not detailed. Only you can decide if it is worth the risk.

This file has some info and contact info for the Sports management academic advisor, I’d suggest you contact her:

thsnks!!!

If you can, try to apply to Isenberg out of high school as an incoming freshman. Transferring to Isenberg after you’re already at UMass is extremely difficult and competitive. For starters, I believe you need to hold something like a 3.75 gpa at UMass up to when you apply, which might be for your first 1 or 2 semesters. SoM is very challenging, but from what I’ve heard sports management major is a lot of fun, so good luck if you decide to go for it. But, don’t count on being able to transfer even if you get the good grades, so basically I wouldn’t go to UMass if you only want to go here for school of management/sports management

Sport management is the current glamorous/hot/sexy major. However, I personally think the bang for your buck is getting a general business degree with a finance or accounting concentration. Then minor in sport or sport communication. That way, you have many, many more options upon graduation. Including working in the sport industry.
