UMD College Park class of 2022 EA discussion

No decision yet…

There are actually some legitimate people on here that just joined today (myself included). It’s a big results day (UNC, supposedly UMCP, supposedly CofC), after all.

@lycoris the admisisons office is closed weekends so it wouldnt be

Why didn’t they just set up a portal… it would have been so much easier, this makes no sense for a school that’s supposed to be good for CS!

For everyone freaking out, I was accepted as a transfer for spring 2018. I received my decision on coalition. The checklist doesn’t go away instead under the checklist it shows a decision letter under that it shows decision response. When I received my decision back in December, it came on a Friday at 5:40.

@piffthemagic_dragon Right! Not sure what the reason for this change to coalition was… Hopefully I️t will turn out well

@adorse26, did you get an email at the same time?

i am kinda skeptical of the people that claimed they saw a “view decision” button instead of the checklist now…

@a_masters16 yes I received an email.

I guess the anxiety we created (with people apparently posting lies rumors etc.) is the reason the admissions office just says “by feb. 1” and no more public comments. But I agree that it hurts their brand to use coalition app when it’s clearly so confusing. I freaked out last month when it mysteriously showed a “apply again” button. Why the heck would any college allow the coalition to create that? It made me think he had gotten rejected when at least so far he hasn’t. But as a father who has seen other schools do this the bottom line is no matter how they end up doing it those who got in will forget and those that didn’t Maryland might not really care that much about anyway.

I don’t want to give up on today but I also have kinda lost all hope…

why do we think it’s today?
what time does it usually come out at?

So should I give up waiting for tonight and hope for next week??

If I have an apply again button is this bad???

Thats 2 hours of my life I will never get back…

Don’t hit the apply button

it has traditionally come out at 4:45 PM EST on the last Friday in Jan. really, that is the only reason why we speculated it would be today. Then, the admissions office changed all their social media profiles to say #NowATerp, so that indicated that today was supposed to be the day. However, like with all new technology, there was most likely an issue with translating the decisions via the Coalition, which is why no one has received a decision yet. Again, I don’t know for a fact that the Coalition had a glitch, but it seems likely.

I’ve sat here for 2 hours refreshing

Indiana University also uses Coalition but the decision was sent by email. My D did not have to check back into Coalition. It’s possible that it’s different since they use rolling admissions and, like Penn State, they have you set up a portal on their website once your application is complete. I am sure many of you are frustrated. My D is very frustrated as her decision is intentionally being held until the School of Music meets with admissions. That’s interesting as we were told that a student can get accepted into UMD, but not the School of Music or vice versa. Or a student can get into both/neither. No news isn’t necessarily bad news.

Yo hopefully we can beat Michigan St on Sunday so we have some hope of making the tourney for real. We aren’t going anywhere though, Cowan and Huerter literally have to carry the team every game…
