UMD College Park class of 2022 EA discussion

Check your checklists guys if you haven’t gotten a decision. My friend has the same problem and it turns out they never received her act scores so her application was never complete.

Woohoo, D was accepted! Major: Public Health, In state, 3.7 ugpa, over a 5 wgpa, 29 act, 11 APs, Legacy through both parents and 5 aunts/uncles, 4 year athlete, NHS, Spanish HS, Lead in school play as a freshman, shadowed a doctor at Johns Hopkins Hospital AIDS clinic for 2 wks, received an A in a summer course at JHU, leadership positions in BBYO, attended a language immersion elementary and middle school, multiple community service and work experiences. Excellent LORs. Also accepted at UofSC, still awaiting news from 7 other colleges. GO TERPS!!

@confused6789 It was in the first line of the acceptance letter

@Daisy50 everything got in on time. the only problem was that my counselor letter came from Naviance and it was first seen as a teacher recommendation, but i called a few weeks ago and they made sure it was changed to counselor and everything was turned in before November 1st.

@JY1424 You can work, take classes at another college or community college, or travel. I’ve heard of a group of Spring admits from Tulane banding together to share a trip abroad. HTH!

i got into fall 2018 for college park scholars program. at the bottom it says my major is “letter and sciences” what does this mean? i applied to the biological sciences major (physiology and neurobiology) and i’m wondering why it doesn’t state that in the letter.

Anyone else still waiting for their decision?

Accepted today. Bio major Pre med track.
1250 SAT
3.6 GPA
Great recs. Great extra curricular include pre med summer program @penn state and another two different ones at brown university for infectious diseases and dna and biotechnology. Also a volunteer EMT

I am still waiting. Still have no email, or ‘view decision’ box, so I am unsure what to do.

@JY1424 if I understand correctly you can go to Maryland in the fall you’d just be limited to classes that happen after 3 pm or anytime on Friday. One of my 19 year old’s friends was FC last semester. I think she even lived on campus.

@blue2000 I know it hurts a lot right now, but there will be other opportunities! I’m sure you will get accepted into a GREAT college, and if UMD really is your dream, you can always try again. Remember that where you go is only a factor in your success. You WILL achieve great things in life <3

My son was accepted into Honors, Communication Major. OOS (CA), 3.9ish UW GPA, 4.5ish weighted GPA, 1590 SAT, 7-11 APs/Honors/Dual Enrollment (depending on what is counted). Decent ECs, played a varsity sport/captain, work experience, language award. Looking forward to hearing about possible merit aid. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!

Hi all!!
Got accepted into the Carillon communties- 3.9 GPA, 30 ACT, tons of ECs. What exactly does that mean? Is an acceptance into the carillon communities good?

Hi all!
Got accepted into CIVICUS program, but i have absolutely no idea what that is…? 4.3 WGPA, 1170 SAT,(:(), tons of ec.

For everyone with questions about CIVICUS, Carillon communities, or other learning communities, check out this link for more info http://reslife.umd.edu/llp/

Daughter Accepted OOS from NOVA. Life long Terps fan due to my Brainwashing. She cried for about half an hour. Guess that’s what 17+ years of built up anticipation can do to you.

1,460/33 with a 3.8uw in full IB and lots of EC’s.

Very Happy Terp Dad!!

@StrGzrMaryland Yes, that’s what I’ve been hearing— thanks for the insight. Gonna get more info about FC tomorrow, but so far I’m pleasantly surprised with what I’ve heard about it!

Anyone know if we can switch programs or completely drop one? I got assigned to Carillon Communities as a cs major which seems unfit. After further research into the dorms, it felt like something I dont want to be involved in based on the highly negative reputation given across the internet.

Can you please provide a link to the “highly negative reputation given across the internet” for Carillion Communities. Thanks.
