Did they tell you over the phone?
portal update.
Iām very sorry about that. In my example, I know several students who did receive a positive result (acceptance) after that 5-7 day period two years ago. I know that UMD and so many other schools have gotten much more competitive in the last two years. My best wishes to your student!
nope still waiting. I wrote an email to UMD but still havenāt received a reply
Unfortunately even some high stat students get rejected. There are only so many spots available and UMD admits holistically so many other factors also come into play. I see your son got into several other colleges so he has other optionsā¦ Hopefully he will get many other great offers also.
We got email today that our decision will be given in 7-10 days. They did not say we will be considered as EA. I am in the same camp as some other posters: all the scholarships and honor spots were already given away so our admission decision will be the one of a rolling admission. we are in absolute dismay about the whole process, considering we had the whole āchecklist completeā statement for a few months now. Regardless of the decision, she is not planning on attending anymore and we will be in contact with Dean of Admission for the sole purpose of bringing attention to this problem. I understand they donāt care, but at least we tried for kids that come after us.
the UMD admission team is so careless that even their denial letter was not right.
āThank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland (UMD). After careful consideration of all
aspects of your application, we are unable to offer you a space in our Fall 2021 freshman class.ā
They were not able to even mention the correct admission year in the denial letter such is the state of admission affairsā¦in addition to missing to review S22ās application in the regular cycle I really feel sorry for the kids to go through these things.
How do you see if you are admitted? Is it where it says that the application was completed on 10-18-21? It says nothing about acceptance, just that everything was completed on 10-18
when you login to your portal, there is āview your decision letterā.
Also, if you click on check list, you shd be able to see when ur application was completed
You need to find your local admissions representative and email them. A bunch of us were in this boat and it turned out something was amiss even though all of our kidsā portals showed ācompleteā. If there is no āsee decision letterā button, there is something up because all decisions are out. They are a mess.
What if there is no decision letter? The completed date is listed as 10-18-22
See my note aboveā¦you have to contact them. Something is not right.
copy/paste error I guessā¦
Still completely not acceptable and sub-par.
A question on visiting UMD campus. It doesnāt look like thereās a date yet for admitted student open house. But trying to gather some facts. Which airport do you recommend (DCA/BWI/IAD)? Weāll be flying in from Chicago OāHare. It is better to rent a car or use public transportation?
DCA is the closest, but I personally prefer BWI, which is 10 miles further away than DCA. I have flown from all 3 and back again, but it has been a number of years since Iāve done so.
I would recommend a rental car, but Iām accustomed to driving in the DC area (UMD is inside the Washington Beltway). Do you know how long you will be here and where you are planning to stay?
Avoid IAD at all costs if you can! BWI is a little further but āeasierā driving (DC is crazy making for driving. I was happier driving in Japan than in DC).
It will be a short trip. Depends on the date of the open house. If itās a Friday/Monday then we might add in the weekend. So probably not a lot time for sightseeing this time around.
Thanks for that tip on avoiding IAD.
Oops I meant to say BWI is a little further than DCA - but DCA can be subject to more traffic.
