Hello, I am wondering which Comp Sci program would best set me up for a good job out of college and internships? Wake is the highest ranked overall, yet UMD is the highest ranked for CS. Should I go to the better overall school or the higher ranked program?
If the lowest cost school has the highest ranked CS program, then you have your answer.
CS grads get hired. Great major. Without more info., then University of Maryland because it has the best CS program.
@Publisher Actually for me all three would end up being around the same price. Also, do you think having the “Wake” name on my record would help? It has a very good alumni network and reputation.
btw, thank you for responding.
It would help among WFU alumni. A degree in CS from any of these schools should be enough credibility for employers.
Cost? For CS, UMD would have the edge.
I have similar costs at each
If they all cost around the same and you can get a good job graduating from each then ask yourself what school feels like a better fit. Which school has the environment you’re looking for? Which has the smallest class sizes and the most personal attention?
That’s a definite no. In CS, the name on your degree matters very little, and when it does, the CS reputation matters, not the general. UMD would actually carry the best reputation here, though again, the importance of that is very minor.
Assuming equal fit factors, I’d also go UMD.
