UMD Transfer 2016 Fall

@c0zykc Have you checked the transfer credit database? I go to a school in CA and most of my classes are on there

@emily2636 Yes I checked and some transfer as electives, some Gen Ed and some aren’t even listed. That’s what really worries me.

enjoy the weekend guys! cause next week is gonna be nerve-racking!!

Is anyone here currently attending a community college in maryland and part of the mtap (maryland transfer advantage program)?

I’m in montgomery college, but I’m not a member of mtap. I can take your question.

@Hirad1 I posted my academic stats on this discussion a while ago, since you go to montgomery college, may you check my stats and tell em if they are good enough to get a decision in april? As an Mtap member, I am promised admission but there two options for me. I can either get my decision telling me I’m accepted in april but I have to send in my final transcript to show that I meet the requirements which is fine with me, or my decision gets postponed if my stats are not good enough and I get my decision in June/July. Thanks

have been a member of mtap program for at least a semester?

@Hirad1 yeah I applied for Mtap in september last year and I got in like December, I participating this semester and transferring in the fall, I already marked down I was part of mtap on my application

@LustinJack12 so yea I dont think that your major is lep so you’re good
I am biology major and since it is lep being an mtap member wouldnt make a difference
I hope you hear good news next week
cheers mate

I hope so, and mtap would give you priority over other applications so they will review yours first before everyone so it kind of has a benefit. Do you currently attend the germantown campus? Thank you through I will let everyone know of my decision

@LustinJack12 no I have taken all of it in rockville, it’s the closest.
the thing with lep is that mtap participants who want to study an lep major can chose the secondary major a non-lep major so that they can get into umd, but after a year they can change their major if their performance had been acceptable.

@Hirad1 solid point, if you don’t mind me asking, if you are applying this year for umd, what are your stats?

@LustinJack12
-Major Biology
-Credits 74 total
-GPA 3.3
-Priority Deadline
-2 RL’s

Hopefully decisions come out this week!

I just got accepted to Saint Joseph’s Univ in philly, so I kind of feel like I have a good chance with UMD now.

I’m going crazy they need to tell us soon

I need some advice!
So I also applied for priority deadline, and I sent in 3 official transcripts before the deadline. But for one of those transcripts I wasn’t able to send it in until the morning of March 1st (so basically on the deadline) because of personal issues with my school. Because of my concern, I e-mailed the administration office explaining to her the situation. I received an e-mail on the 5th saying 2 of my transcripts haven’t been received yet and that there is no guarantee that the late receipt of a transcript will still be okay for the priority deadline if they aren’t received in the time allotted for receiving transcripts postmarked after the deadline. This made me initially concerned (why haven’t they been received yet? I didn’t send them after the deadline) so I checked my order status for my transcripts and they said it has been processed and delivered on the 29th of February (for one) and the 1st of March (for the second) and that they are typically received within 2-3 business days, so I wasn’t worrying too much knowing that UMD should receive them later on in the day (of the 5th).
I recently checked my online application status earlier in the day to see if the decisions have been sent out, and I saw that my transcripts are still being shown as not received!!! I don’t know if they updated their system, since the only date that is being shown is the 1st of March for when my application was sent, but none the less I am still very worried! UMD should have received it by now, it’s been more than a month! Has anyone else had a similar situation or have any advice on what I should do? I’ve already sent them another e-mail with my transcript receipts and status, and also plan on calling them. Since my application is still saying incomplete because of the transcripts, does that mean my application is not valid for priority? Also, what does it mean by “postmarked by the deadline”? I know it doesn’t mean received, so does that mean when it is emailed/sent?
I’m freaking out! Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Also- freshman, 18 finished credits, GPA: 3.8, Bio-major

@hellobellow I would honestly call and ask if your application has been reviewed first and then ask if any of the materials were received

hey @LustinJack12 I recently posted my stats “I’m a current sophomore with about 57 credits. This is my second time transferring which is horrible I know. From my previous school, I had a 3.22 cumulative GPA but it was a smaller school. So coming to the University of Kentucky my GPA suffered a bit while adjusting so fall semester 2015 I had a 2.8. I currently have a 3.8 GPA for spring 2016. My extracurriculars are major related and I have interned at the U.S. Capitol for 3 years in a row, not including the upcoming summer. I only have one letter of recommendation but it’s from an advisor. I’m also a resident of Maryland. Can anyone tell me my chances of being accepted as a transfer student for Fall 2016?” could you tell me what you think my chances are?

@relyks0022 whats your cumulative gpa overall as of right now? and whats your major?
