UMiami Admissions Fall 2022

Yea, I am not sure what to think of this, honestly I dont think it means anything haha. Good luck to you too!!

Has anyone called the admissions office to confirm decisions are being released today?

im a premier candidate too, but its letting me change so idk

Applied for business technology, high stats imo (1460 SAT/34 ACT, 3rd in my class, FBLA state president, tons of leadership, varsity athlete)ā€¦

I can change my major.

^only things would be I havenā€™t shown demonstrated interest in Miami and my financial aid is technically incomplete which indicates a ā€œdistinct disadvantageā€ for admission per my portal. So who knows. This seems random.

Same, Im premier candidate and i can change my major

Reading through last yearā€™s post, there were lots of deferments of top candidates. Even some for Premier scholarship candidates. It seems people with much lower stats were acecpted out right in EA. I guess Miami did tons of yield acceptance last year.

Is it still the same today? I donā€™t see that message.

Hmm well if they defer me Iā€™m just going to end up withdrawing I thinkā€¦RD doesnā€™t get merit, right? No way would I attend paying full fare. Plus I donā€™t want to write a LOCI.

Thatā€™s interesting though that they deferred a lot of people. I might get flat-out rejected tbh although I think I have decent stats. I guess weā€™ll see! I can change my major still.

UM always defers a lot of students. As for merit scholarships - to my knowledge all students that apply to the university can be considered for merit scholarships. As for forgetting to send along the FAFSA, yes that can hurt you but if they like everything else that is a real reason to be deferred. The easiest school you see that happening clearly stated on a website if GA Tech. They state if you havenā€™t completed all financial aid information you will considered as an RD applying student. This holds for most schools even if they donā€™t state it. I know that Case Western deferred some people for that exact thing from their EA. So if itā€™s UM you want and they defer send what you need to send and give it an RD go. It doesnā€™t hurt you or cost you anything else to do so.

I believe 4 pm but donā€™t quote me on that - if you log into your miami portal and try to change your major some people are able to and some arenā€™t. but we arent sure which is good and which isnā€™t or if it means anything at all

cool thanks boss

My brother called the morning of ED release and was told they couldnā€™t give a date. It came out a few hours later! They usually do it around 4pmā€¦but they wonā€™t give much inof if you call.

Anyone know if they defer to regular decision, April 1, but you pay a deposit elsewhere, do they withdraw your application at UM? It kind of stresses me out to wait so long to maybe secure housing somewhere. I donā€™t even mind losing deposits if I end up choosing UM in the end. I have some other acceptances but Iā€™m worried about waiting until RD or being wait listed. I feel pressure to submit deposits and secure housing somewhere.

In 2020 my son was deferred from EA to RD, then accepted on March 27th. Good luck!

Looking at last yearā€™s thread it seems to me that they definitely yield protected. Some very high achieving students, even some who had been offered scholarships, were deferred. Others who were definitely reaches got in EA.

No one can withdraw your application except you. Most deposits are due May 1st - so if you do get deferred you have time.

If you get waitlisted after getting deferred then you should deposit at another school. I got WL at Tufts deposited elsewhere and got off WL on May 6th.
