Prior to the May 2 commitment date, how soon (what date) do you think freshmen need to commit by in order to get first choice housing? And is the following year really not based on a lottery system but on when the committed to the university as a senior in high school?
I do interviews for Cornell, they mean nothing and getting one is random. It just means there happens to be an alumni that lives near you. We arenāt even allowed to file a report. Just check a yes or no box if the meet-up happened.
Has anyone heard back about their waitlisted status yet? I sent a LOCI a few weeks ago and Iām anxious for an update.
you probably wonāt hear until after 5/1
Weāre wondering about this too. Concern about getting assigned something unaffordableā¦
There are two identical towers for incoming freshman along with another lower rise building. Either way they are all about the same. Towers are more centrally located.
I think that is part of what they are deconstructing to start the new phase of on campus housing.
they are tearing down buildings - but not the two towers designated for freshmen next year
Anyone think we might hear back from the waitlist before May 1?
It is not likely that you will hear before May 1. They accept more than they have space for and have a healthy number confirmed from their ED process.
Focus on your where your current options are and start making plans.
Send your final grades after graduation if you are still interested.
Only one tower will remain (Hecht is coming down) and the two suite style buildings (Mahoney and Pearson) will house freshman. They are all priced about the same. The Lakeside Village is the expensive housing but thatās for sophomores and some juniors.
The following yearās housing priority is absolutely based on when you sent your deposit in as a freshman. Donāt let them tell you otherwise with some ātiebreakerā nonsense. Your appointment time to pick housing, assuming you have a person lined up for every bed in the unit, is based on who in the group put their deposit in earliest. That person should become the housing leader in the group because they will get the best date/time. I know it seems like a long way off, but I wish I knew that going into it. The second thing to realize is that although on-campus housing is more expensive after freshman year, off-campus housing is insane. Unless you share a bedroom with someone, but most kids donāt want to share an off-campus bedroom after freshman year (those that donāt care usually stay on-campus in a LSV or Easton suite) so easier said than done.
For anyone wondering about getting off the waitlist before May 1ā¦be prepared for them to keep you hanging until mid-June! Itās possible that they keep you hanging on, and from my memory you do have to let them know you are still interested each time they extend the final waitlist date. So before or on May 1 would only be for majors they need to fill, or boxes they need to check, but for everyone else itās a waiting game that could go on forever.
Did any international students who got the letter telling them that UMiami couldnāt meet their aid at this time and to submit a minimum of 81000 USD by may 1st to be considered actually do it ?
