UMich Ann Arbor Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

100% agree. When viewing ours years ago it’s kinda impressive. But the stats of the school speak for themselves, I guess.

University of Michigan has three campuses. Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn

UMICH flint campus decision

It does seem that way. Our high school which is 30%+ free lunch (so high bar to actually accepting Michigan for financial reasons OOS) and has had 3-4 kids out of 100 going to Michigan - at least 5 kids were accepted EA this year. I think it has to be the school report, and also the kids do well at Michigan (COE mainly) once there. It seems counter-intuitive to not look at SAT scores and use AI to predict academic success but these are just 2 tools that the schools use to further their goals. They want to admit as many FGLI and diverse kids as possible, but also want to know out of the non-FGLI/diverse kids who will succeed at Michigan.

I didn’t realize it would be such a hot topic :grinning:

Thanks!

I didn’t know they have 3 campus either.

if you’re able to make the thread I would appreciate you posting the link in this one!

Try this. And please post, I think threads expire in 7 days with no activity.
Feb 18, fingers crossed. We are signed up for the March 11 tour for admitted students.

Our HS guidance counselor knows all of this. Says we are on track to it our 50% acceptance rate for our top 10 feeder school. DD deferred with 35 ACT though. Lower stats, GPA & tests got in. Counselor did acknowledge this and that they may be looking for first gen students, low income, etc. We are a diverse family so surprised DD did not get in, but didn’t read her essay so she may not have reflected that. I am a grad alum too, but that obviously did not help. I had heard over the years that our schools GPAs are weighted upwards due to strong rigor at Michigan and Michigan State.

Where did you find info on tours for admitted students?

It’s in the portal for admitted students. I gleaned this info from this thread. And there are admitted students tours that focus on Ross. March 11 is still available. March 12 is fully booked. There is one next week.

My dc opened the portal for admitted, and it’s all there. Costs $30 unlike the tours one can book on the regular website.

S22 OOS and trying to see when can we expect “U-M begins sending estimated financial aid packages within a few weeks of being admitted”. Any idea? would be in email or via postal mail?

Thanks in advance.

There is swag apparently.

Yep. Michigan is not shy with their swag especially as a student. When my son came home like most of his t-shirts were something Michigan or Chicago Cubs. It was actually kinda funny. Join clubs /activities… Get a t-shirt…

The info should be there but is subject to the kids updating accurately. Go into his college list, click in UM and then look for the scattergam data.

Ah, thank you! I think my DD will wait until she’s admitted to Ross before booking - but definitely a great opportunity!

Unfortunately that’s the problem - Naviance is based on self reporting so typically has a lot of data missing (especially rejections and waitlist outcomes)
