I don’t think Naviance shows timelines.
Students are randomly assigned their order on the waitlist. There is no ranking order based on GPA or other metrics. Luck of the draw. Yikes.
Edit: in other words it’s not some master list ranked 1-10k in order of who is the next most “deserving” in the queue like one would think.
Naviance says Michigan is a safety for my son as well. HYP, et. al. are matches. Only Cal Tech is a reach.
do you think decisions are coming out on the 18th?
Gotta use Naviance with a grain of salt. Being within the scatter gram just let’s you know you have a shot. Doesn’t weigh anything else.
Yep. Naviance can be misleading. Same with other websites that try to gage admissions chances, like collegevine.

Does anyone actually believe that? Our kid’s CG made a list that was scary in terms of schools. But we know that reality is different. I would have read that as a LOL.
Unless someone has an Olympic medal and perfect stats, that’s just a poor reading of Naviance. These systems are compilations. It’s sad if parents/kids are actually thinking their kids are getting into HYP and only MIT/Caltech are stretches. Sets the kid up for a big fall, IMO. Better to introduce some reality and humility in the process. Our kid knows most applying are very high stats kids and much of the decision making is done on the soft skills (EC’s and recommendations).
I was pleasantly surprised to see that it’s in the top of many fields. Just shows you regional bias ( my own). Glad to have it on the list. Now we just have to figure out how to visit.
Admitted students have a link to sign up for tours, different from the 45m general tour.
Thanks good to know. Kid applied to too many schools (17); I know, it’s crazy. So is overwhelmed with details. But given how weird this year is, I’m actually glad kid is holding lots of lotto tickets. One rejection in particular was very surprising. Lol.
Fwiw, i spoke with someone on admissions last week who said they “try” to fill half their class via EA. They also told me a significant difference this year was that rejections in EA are “usually rare”, but “quite a few” went out this year.
kids who were admitted, did they receive a link and login for the weblogin for umich
If accurate, then they kept to their historical pattern. Honestly I thought they’d admit more with the later EA release.
Any idea how that compares to previous years. Your system may not have the EA acceptances but should show the total acceptances. Very helpful.
Yes, sorry, the stacked bar charts above are actually where the gold is. The scattergram looks like mostly scatter!!
Thanks for correcting.
Postponed OOS applicant. In writing my LOCI, I am 100 words over; 250 is not a lot! Is it more important to focus on updates to my application or more additions to my ‘Why Michigan’ essay?
We know 2 people who applied EA and were waitlisted. Also know 1 person who applied EA and was denied.
They waitlist during EA? O_O
I believe postponed EA applicants will hear the first Friday of March if I had to guess, does anyone know if it is true that the first wave is acceptances and the last is rejections? (Saw that on this thread.)
