UMich or Univ of Maryland or Virginia Tech?

I got I20s for UMich and UMD (Both for MS in Computer Science for term Fall '08) and one for Virginia Tech (For PhD in CS). Please advise me as to which university should I opt for. Thanks very much in advance.

where are you from?

If all are out of state than go to Umich

Im from India. Actually, I plan to do a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (in CS). Ignoring the tuition costs for these colleges, I wanted to know if UMich scores very big in comparison with the other two. Please post a clear assessment of each college. (And also, if a PhD in VT would weigh less than an MS in UMich/UMD).

Thanks for the advisors.

well, being a born and raised wahoos fan, i would decide against vt on that principle alone. :stuck_out_tongue: umich > umd for science/math.

I think that it should come down to the money…how much will each cost you? You shouldn’t have to pay for your PhD so assuming VaTech is offering you a fellowship, I’d go there.

EDIT: yesterday i got a letter of acceptance alongwith i20 from Univ of Maryland offering PhD in Computer Science. However, as of now they didn’t offer me any financial aid. But still, I think it’s a question to choose from VT and UMD. Please advise.

i’d go with maryland…both are good in your field, but umd is better respected.

praveen837…

Its not going to matter after I have indisputable evidence that you hacked my paypal account. Here in America theft / fraud / dishonestly is looked upon as generally unacceptable and by academic standards, the last thing these universities want is dishonest cheaters and liars. Surprise, you messed with the wrong guy. I’ll be contacting the deans of all three of these Universities to make sure you never, ever get in. Hear that flushing sound? That’s your hopes and dreams going down the toilet. Next time pick a stupid person to mess with.
