UMICH Transfer Advice

Hello,

I am currently a sophomore at DePaul University. My grade trend is as follows:
Fall Quarter: 2.69
Winter Quarter: 3.0
Spring Quarter: 4.0
Summer Quarter: (just took one class) 4.0
Fall Quarter: 4.0

Now my GPA is 3.532 and I would love to transfer to the University of Michigan. What are my chances and how will colleges view this gpa trend? I explained in the common app additional information section that I had an extremely challenging time adjusting to college but when I finally settled, I excelled in the classes I was taking. I explained how this experience has shaped me as a person developing an unwavering persistence and determination.

I applied spring semester for College of LSA with a college GPA of 3.34 and was denied. However, they asked for high school statistics since I didn’t have all of the credits completed for those to not be accounted for. UMich is a tough and very strategic school to get in to. It really depends on your area of study. Just an FYI also, when I spoke with my academic counselor he said if you apply to the business school you have nearly no chance as a transfer. Good luck though!!! Go blue! and

Jhbrie is absolutely right. Transfer admissions is a very strategic and tricky process. However, there is hope I transferred into UofM’s Ross School of Business as a incoming sophomore this year. Your gpa trend shows improvement which is great, if you keep earning a high gpa (particularly if you’re taking classes pertaining to your major) you should have a good chance at the College of LSA. You can also stand out through your essays! Believe it or not they do hold some weight in the review process. I’m pretty sure that my essays were the only reason I was accepted to Ross given my gpa was lower than that of the other b-school transfers. Best of luck & Go Blue!!

Thank you for your advice!!
