Hello! This is my first post so I am sorry if I do something wrong, but please let me know if I need to fix anything about my post.
I am interested in transferring to UMich for Winter 2019. I have already applied and wanted to know what my chances would be.
I am currently a freshman at a good school in California. I graduated high school 1 year early to come to an honors program at this school. Since I did that, I didn’t get to apply to any other schools.
I am taking CS classes right now, but am switching majors and applied to the space sciences and engineering major at UMich.
I am not sure how much UMich will look at my college activities, but I am part of a few clubs and my gpa will probable be around 3.5 and maybe 1 class will transfer.
Here is other information about me.
Female 17
From Michigan
High School GPA(unweighted): 4.22 (feeder school to UMich)
ACT: 36
10 AP classes all 4s and 5s
Varsity sport all 4 years and leadership role
Variety of clubs like student government, honors societies, volunteer, DECA; with leadership roles
DECA state champion
MITES (MIT summer program)
Aerospace summer program
National Spanish exam gold medalist
School paper and leadership role
National Merit Semi finalist (don’t know about finalist until later)
Hospital volunteer
Youth sport volunteer
Please be honest about my chances. I think I would have gotten in if I applied as a senior in high school, but I was told by admissions counselors that it is very hard for freshman to transfer after only 1 semester.
If you guys have any advice for me I would love for you to share. I am really unhappy being so far away from home and plane tickets are so expensive. I feel like I am starting to lose my motivation and drive because I am so sad all the time here, but I know how important it is for me to get good grades if I want to transfer.
Sorry for such a long post, and thank you in advance
