I recently got accepted to both these schools for their Engineering CS programs. I’m most likely going to attend one of these schools next year. The tough part is now choosing one of them.
Can anyone offer advice into which school I should go to? Some of the important factors that I’m taking into concern are: campus [life], recruiting, strength of programs, and the overall community.
I’ve heard from many that most tech companies don’t differentiate much between both of these schools.
Well, are you OOS for any of them? Can you pay for both?
UIUC is marginally stronger than Michigan for CS. However, Michigan is stronger as an overall university and is situated in what most people would call a superor location. Michigan also has higher costs overall.
If you want a good overall college experience, Umich is much better. UIUC is marginally better for CS, but the location is pathetic.
@southernbelle16 Yeah, I’m OOS for both; money isn’t an issue though.
Gotcha just checking! Personally, I would choose UMich.
UIUC is cheaper by some. UIUC tuition stays the same for 4 years while UMich has more expensive upperclass tuition. Also, UIUC has a stronger presence in Silicon Valley. UMich has a stronger overall university reputation, however, and most people prefer Ann Arbor over Chambana.
Thanks, everyone. Got some good responses.
