Happy that you started this thread! I am applying to transfer for Fall 2018 too. Having a thread like this is super helpful throughout the application and waiting time.
@AwakenMyLove Normally Umich accepts junior standing but there are cases when they will accept sophomores if their high school stats are highly competitive. I would say that you would have a really good shot, especially with your ACT score. It worth applying and hoping for the best.
As a student admitted for Winter '18 as a transfer, you’re a strong applicant for L,S&A and Kinesiology. The only major factors are your high school G.P.A (which is factored because of your low number of college credits), your college courses which either transfer or those which you can petition for equivalence and your ACT- within the 50 percentile. Only major potential detriment is whether or not you’re OOS or an IS applicant. If its the latter, make sure you explain why your high school G.P.A is below admission req, and play up your college 4.0. For a base line my stats are as followed:
High School G.P.A- 2.7
ACT- 32
*EC- Spent 7 years active in the Army with 2 tours in theater
College G.P.A-4.0 (50 credits '33 transferred)
So as an OOS student, best advice I can give is this. Explain how you’ve grown, why you want to attend UMich and what you have to offer as a prospective student. Most importantly, don’t let people on this forum discourage you. If you’re applying and genuine, you’re more than smart enough to know the baseline stats. What the stats don’t incorporate are the factors that make you, “YOU.” So to you and all those that will be checking the forum religiously the closer you get to fall, best of luck to all of you.

I also have quite a few W’s on my transcripts, but I had medical reasoning which I made sure to point out and explain on my Common App application. All except for two were made up for and passed with A’s and B’s. I’m coming from a state school in Florida. Honestly, I don’t think my stats are stellar enough to get accepted, but Michigan has always been my favorite school, so I said what the hell.
@gumby39 it’s a high reach because of your g.p.a and the number of credits associated with it. You’re an Associate’s holder, or equivalent of and that could potentially hurt you. Only “saving grace” would be an upward increase of your g.p.a. and a really sound reason as to why it’s in the lower percentile academically for a transfer. Now if you’re applying for CoE and your current schools curriculum is rigorous; i.e, heavy math, physics and major focus (mech eng, chem eng, etc) then you should be in good standing. For winter, there were people on the forums with less credits and lower g.p.a’s than you and 2/8 got accepted into CoE. If you are applying LSA, or Kinesology with your g.p.a, it isn’t impossible but it is not very likely. Best of luck, and hope things have improved for you medically.
@dwane1 yeah, I kind of figured. I planned on applying to LSA Economics. I got really sick with a bacterial infection my second year, so that impacted my grades as well as withdrawals which I made sure to point out on my Common App. There was also a trend of upward GPA, so I have that going for me. I have the mindset that I won’t get accepted and I have plenty of other options I have a better chance of. I just figured I’d apply and maybe I’ll get lucky. I do appreciate the input though!
@gumby39, best of luck and I am sure the admissions counselor will take your reasons and health issues into account. The fact that you retook most of your W/D classes and received A’s will improve your chances and show dedication. Couple that with your rising g.p.a and you may have a chance. Plus, you stand 0 chance of getting in if you never apply, so I hope you’re in good health and wish you nothing but the best.
Some advice that may help you is find your admission counselor and explain your previous situation to them, and see what they think is your best course of action. I reached out to mine last May for this winter term, and the information he provide was invaluable for me getting accepted. Although my circumstances varied greatly from yours, he explained everything I needed to do to make myself more competitive. I believe if you build a solid rapport with yours, they may be able to provide you with information to increase your likelihood of acceptance.
I applied U Michigan last year in high school and got rejected. Now I want to apply for transfer as sophomore, do I need to send my ACT score again? Thanks!

Is anyone receiving a weird error when clicking on application status on wolverine access?
It says something like that “Function getwascluster does not return a result. (180,69) MRAWASWRK.NAME.FieldFormula Name:getwas_cluster PCPC:3484 Statement:58.”
How are my chances of admission affected if I do not have any social science and foreign language classes completed? I am applying to the school of engineering.
